Did you know that most of Pucca's lore stems from Abyo?

In the year 2000, VOOZ seemed to launch many brands, including Dooby and Booby (yes, that's a real thing, and yes, it's the best name given to anything ever) and MURA Military Pigs. This lineup, of course, included Pucca, but it also included "Abyo Dragon Boy", a Bruce Lee parody character.

At this time, Pucca only had three characters, Pucca, Garu, and Santa.

They didn't have much in the way of story aside from being together, and their relationship dynamic being the way it is.

Abyo, however, seemed to have a lot. I can't look for the actual Abyo website/pages at the moment (although if I do, I will definitely update this post) but from the looks of it Abyo had quite a bit of story, or at the very least the beginnings of it.

The sight of Tobe in the center is quite intriguing in this context, seeming to imply that Tobe was Abyo's main rival.

Soon after he came to be– so soon that he didn't have much media made before this happened*– the entire world of Abyo Dragon Boy got dropped, and all of it's world was turned into the backdrop of Pucca and Garu's story, and Abyo was turned into Garu's best friend, and a secondary character.

His love interest Ching was turned into Pucca's best friend, as well.

I honestly wonder how much of their personality as shown in these profiles and their shorts is different from how they were supposed to be back in the Dragon Boy days.

It's very interesting to me how if it wasn't for Abyo, we wouldn't have Pucca as it is today...but he's also one of the relatively less thought about characters💀

*He was seemingly dropped late enough for his hands to be fixed to have a less floppy-looking shape. It's hard to figure out how late into the IP they dropped him because VOOZ only ever uses the year they created the IP for it's copyright in every image.

Abyo Bruceling Theory

So, Abyo doesn't have a mom. This could be explained as her simply not being present in his life, but I think it is a bit more complex than that. No, I think Bruce is part of a much larger Bruce species that reproduces asexually, producing a baby bruce, one which looks very similar to Abyo.

In the episode Tame that Toon from season 2, there are multiple Bruces, and it can only be assumed that since then, the species population has decreased significantly.

My theory is that Abyo is actually a young Bruce, and when he is an adult he will look just like Bruce as well. However, since Abyo is so dumb, it is unlikely he will continue the species, and they will all go extinct.

Headcanon pucca theory time

So in those Vooz-licensed Pucca stickerbooks, Soo's maidens are named something like

Nini and Didi. But these are only two maidens. And there are more than two maidens. There's at least five. There's probably more but at LEAST five. So what are the others named?

Well, if we follow this naming scheme throughout all of the alphabet, we will then have a name for at least 24 maidens minus the already named ones. They, for the most part, surprisingly make sense and sound right. Aside from the one named Iiii and the ones whose names sound like weewee.
