These are some early versions of my Pucca designs. I made them around December 2024, and I had forgotten to post them here. I'll probably change something in the future lol

Did you know that most of Pucca's lore stems from Abyo?

In the year 2000, VOOZ seemed to launch many brands, including Dooby and Booby (yes, that's a real thing, and yes, it's the best name given to anything ever) and MURA Military Pigs. This lineup, of course, included Pucca, but it also included "Abyo Dragon Boy", a Bruce Lee parody character.

At this time, Pucca only had three characters, Pucca, Garu, and Santa.

They didn't have much in the way of story aside from being together, and their relationship dynamic being the way it is.

Abyo, however, seemed to have a lot. I can't look for the actual Abyo website/pages at the moment (although if I do, I will definitely update this post) but from the looks of it Abyo had quite a bit of story, or at the very least the beginnings of it.

The sight of Tobe in the center is quite intriguing in this context, seeming to imply that Tobe was Abyo's main rival.

Soon after he came to be– so soon that he didn't have much media made before this happened*– the entire world of Abyo Dragon Boy got dropped, and all of it's world was turned into the backdrop of Pucca and Garu's story, and Abyo was turned into Garu's best friend, and a secondary character.

His love interest Ching was turned into Pucca's best friend, as well.

I honestly wonder how much of their personality as shown in these profiles and their shorts is different from how they were supposed to be back in the Dragon Boy days.

It's very interesting to me how if it wasn't for Abyo, we wouldn't have Pucca as it is today...but he's also one of the relatively less thought about characters💀

Please dm me if you have any more information or corrections about Abyo Dragon boy and the merging with Pucca, since I want to provide only factual information on posts like these!

*He was seemingly dropped late enough for his hands to be fixed to have a less floppy-looking shape. It's hard to figure out how late into the IP they dropped him because VOOZ only ever uses the year they created the IP for it's copyright in every image.
