Four-thirty a.m. on a Saturday night; well, Sunday morning if he wanted to get technical, but Kendall operated on the mindset that it wasn’t tomorrow until he went to bed. And at this point, tomorrow probably wouldn’t come until well after the sun rose just to mock him. He wobbled as he took a step down to sit on the curb, and he felt Lexus’s arm shoot out and latch onto his shoulder to try and steady him.

“Watch yourself there, princess.”

Kendall’s returning gaze was sharp, but his grin confirmed he wasn’t upset. At least not with Lexus. For whatever reason he could never be upset with Lexus. They’d only started hanging out the other week, but it already felt like he’d known him for months with how much they ended up talking when they were both too strung out to give a fuck. He told Lexus stuff he couldn’t even tell Rae, and she’d be pissed if she knew how many secrets he’d kept over the years.

It felt good to get some of that stuff off of his chest, but now that someone else knew, he began to feel the pressure to do something about it. Talk to a professional, see a doctor, finally tell Jason how he really felt-

Nope. The pressure wasn’t that bad. At least not yet. Maybe some things he’d just take to the grave, whenever he got there. At this point he assumed sooner rather than later, and that was fine with him.

Lexus could tell Kendall was spiraling. He always did once the buzz began to wear off and the weight of reality started to settle in. He knew he couldn’t exorcize Kendall’s demons; he had to deal with that shit on his own. But the least he could do was try to pull a genuine smile from him before he buried himself alive.

“Why can’t a tyrannosaurus rex clap their hands?”

Kendall shook his head. “Because their arms are tiny?”

Lexus stared straight ahead; his expression and tone deadpan. 

“No, Kendall. Because they’re extinct.”

He waited until he heard Kendall snort, and turned just in time to catch the smile he was quickly growing to love. The genuine, contagious smile he didn’t get to see as often as he’d like. 

A few beats of silence passed, and they both broke out into giggles until tears threatened to fall. Everything was funnier past two a.m.; this was a simple fact. Kendall let out a heavy sigh, and scooted closer to rest his head on Lexus’s bare shoulder. “Thanks. It’s like you always know when to pull my head out of my ass or somethin’.”

Lexus slung his arm across Kendall’s back to keep him close, and mussed his loose ponytail until it started to fall out from its elastic. “Yeah, or something. I think the diner a few blocks over is still open, and I need a hot tea and some food before my stomach realizes all it’s had since dinner was…booze.”

Kendall snorted, and looked up at Lexus through his messy bangs. “Throw in a bacon cheddar omelet with an obscene amount of potatoes on the side and I’m there.”

I got a jellycat stuffie when we went to the city on Thursday!! His name on the tag was drake but I’m gonna change it. Also I decided that he will be puffs big brother since they’re both dragons! Its also super awesome because I ordered some online but didn’t order him cause he was too much even though I really wanted to, but then when we saw him in the store my daddy got him for me!
