As stop-gapped measure to counter the Axis Jet Fighters, North American Aviation modified a P-51D Mustang with a pair of Ford PJ-31-1 pulsejet engines. They were mounted under the wing on rocket shackles and were copies of Argus model used on German V-1 buzz bombs.

It was found to give a good boost when in operation but caused too much drag when they were not. Ultimately, this concept was pursued further.

While not usually classed as Mini-Cons, the renegade Ramjet did work with Eggbird, Eggbot, and Eggleo when he was transformed into the Cyborg Beast Pulsejet by Unicron's power.
