I was getting settled on the table at my preferred massage place and my therapist noticed my sensor on my arm. I said I was diabetic and wore an insulin pump, saying it's okay to touch around my sensor but not right on it so it doesn't get removed accidentally. She says okay and we move on.
Hour and a half later, after my massage, she asks me if my blood sugar is okay to drive before I leave and says she has a niece who is diabetic so she understands. She offered a few pieces of candy she had stashed in her purse if I was dropping and I happily get to explain how my sensor works.
It just took me by surprise because most of the time with strangers it's "oh, cool. Insulin pump." Then it's done. The MAs checking me at doctor's offices just ask if they can put the BP cuff over my sensor, nothing more. I explain to a co-worker and it's dropped. But she took me by surprise and followed up with me to make sure I was okay before I left the clinic.
I gave her the biggest tip I've ever given a massage therapist.
