YES! So let me be honest, I'm not good at descriptions... but I really love your writing. I adore surreal type stuff, and you do it so very well. I love how you use stuff that's in the game and make a story out of it, and it still includes the spirit of the game. And I like your other writing as well, the Still Waters story you did awhile back was amazing.

I read your posts ALL the time. I absolutely enjoy them. They remind me of a Dali painting. Surreal, dream-like and sometimes I don't always understand the words, but I understand the FEELING, if that makes sense? Please never stop posting, lol. I mean that sincerely.

Thanks! I’ll need it for the written exam. I’ve always kinda sorta sucked at taking tests, although I did OK on college-entry ones, way back when. It’s probably because I’ve never taken that many tests. That’s one of the perks of not having gone to an actual school much. Private tutors, yay. But I do have some practice ones, so that helps. :)

Well, I’m glad. :) I’m finding that it’s just hard to strike a balance between making things look nice and not making it require gigabytes of CC. :P Seriously, I don’t know how no-CC folks do it. *sigh* I think I’m too much of an aesthete for my own good with this game, given Maxis’s...um, Maxis-yness. :) But hopefully I will find a good balance as I go.

And I’m really excited to build/share it! :) It’s something I’ve long wanted to do, but just...haven’t. Partly because of issues with getting AnyGame up and running. But now that that’s resolved...Yay!

Thanks! I kinda think I do the same things too much, but...Well, it works for me and it’s playable for the way I play. It’s one of those balance things, too. I could go wild with the deco/clutter, but since I don’t actually have a lot of deco in my game, by choice, (and what I do have is mostly plants. And mirrors, being a child of the 70s. :) ) and since I want to play more than I want to spend hours decorating each room....Well, it works for me. I’m glad to hear that others like it as well. I tend to think that, if you like what I do, it’d be relatively easy to replicate since I don’t use a whole lot of deco/clutter. Just a few key things used over and over. That’s why I like Jonesi bed blanket slaves so much, I guess. Lots of different possible “looks” with relatively few meshes cluttering my catalogs. Just a metric buttload of recolors.

Random disasters are like, half the reason I play The Sims!

Hah! Yeah, me too! It’s why I like fires and the RealSickness mod and just generally leaving Sims to their own devices. Also, I’m having fun experimenting with random occurrence generators. Sometimes that spells disaster, too. :)

I like the "build furnished, but not decorated" idea, and Iove the terrain!

Yeah, I really like that terrain. It’s small, doesn’t require a camera mod to see the whole thing, and flat (which is good for building), but large enough to build a good number of lots with room still for expansion if the player wants to do so, and I think when all deco’d and built up, it’ll be really pretty! :) 

And yeah, I think furnished but not fully decorated is the way to go. That way, people can just attach, populate, and play if they want, without having to add basic furniture, but it will also lessen the CC and make it so that people can more easily decorate in their own style, if they want, without having to strip out a ton of stuff. I’m trying to make it so that it will work for the most amount of people...except those who want no CC, I guess. I’m just not very good at that, alas. :\

To be fair, I remember when Numenor and Delphy and the others were still building AGS, Simpe etc, and Numenor was probably the most patient and kind person in the first few years I've ever seen. How he was like in the end after 4-5 years of stupid questions probably would have worn him down to a frazzle by then. I don't wonder why he lost his patience.

Oh, yeah, I can totally understand getting frustrated with an endless parade of the same questions, stupid and otherwise, asked over and over. I remember when the UC came out and the MTS forum was flooded with TS2 n00bs and returnees all asking the same questions without apparently looking to see if they’d been answered first. As a person who was trying to help them here and there, that alone got frustrating. I tip my hat to people who work in customer service and tech support because I would just go stark raving loony in that sort of job and would probably get my ass fired in less than a day when I started berating idiots left and right because I have 0 Nice points and even less patience. Since SimPE and such were made by fans and not people who were being paid to put up with crap, I can definitely understand getting frustrated and testy.

Buuuuuut on the other hand, I can also see Nix’s point: If a group of obviously-knowledgeable non-idiots all have the same issue and report it to you, as a developer, then you might want to consider the possibility that the fault might not rest with the end user. And you might not want to be an ass when you respond to them. This, too, is a balance thing. As is life in general, I guess. :)

The fear is what makes it so hard to bear.

It sucks that anxiety’s symptoms are so close to symptoms of other things. Like Friday I thought I was hemorrhaging again and got all panicked about it, and of course the anxiety makes me feel light-headed and nauseous. Just like blood loss. So it was a bit of a feedback loop, with the anxiety’s symptoms making me more anxious.

You are a good person! But I know what you mean about fearing the pain. When something happens that makes me sad and upset about anything, I worry it means I’ll end up being sick for months with panic attacks. Intense pain is scary.

I don’t know if I can imagine anything more scary than constant intense chest pain, and I still don’t know how I made it all those weeks with it.

Doesn’t feel to me like I’m doing my best, or if I am then my best is a pile of mistakes and failure.

You can really feel the loneliness and existential crisis here, poor narrator :(  But don’t get me wrong, I love the story!

And yeah, I’m gonna post what I want to post, which is why people who just want to control what I post shouldn’t even try and should just unfollow me if what I post bothers them. I’ve learned not to play their game.

*hugs* Thank you. It’s just...I think maybe people don’t realize how attached I get to them, and they go away without giving me a chance, and to me personally it’s devastating. So I just wanted to say hey, you know, give me a chance. I’m pretty good at seeing other people’s POV. If it’s within reason - I’ve learned to put boundaries around the empathy so that I don’t go running full speed into the teeth of emotional vampires again.

I’ve been going around recently assuring my mostest best friends that I will always be their friend and that I won’t go away. 

The other night I asked the same thing of the spousal person. I asked him “If you ever feel like going away, will you talk to me about it first so maybe I can fix it so you won’t want to go away?”

He said “I won’t go away.” So I said “I won’t go away either!” and I snuggled all up to him and went to sleep. :)

I don’t know. Relationships and consistency and stability are all extremely important to me, and the reason I’ve been out of sorts lately is that I lost what I thought of as a stable relationship. So now I’m going around trying to shore up things with other people so that it doesn’t happen again, at least not any time soon. It cracked open a bit of the scab over the wound from being ostracized by the entire community during the Bad Times, so....yeah.

But hearing someone say nice inclusive things about me helps a lot! Yay thank you for that! :) It really really means a lot.

You always fit your stories so well into the world of TS3 and TS4, I love it! I can see it in the game as I read it, but it also goes beyond that, because it’s very good :)

You...you get it. You...oh, I just want to give you lots of things right now. I wish I had a lot of things that you liked to give you.

It means a lot when people can see how my stories really are based in the game. I think sometimes people forget, like the person who was a bit upset with how Valley was set in Sims 3 and so the police bits weren’t realistic to IRL.

That’s a major part of why I love Sims stories, seeing what I can do within the limits of the game. It’s why I don’t use much CC and I only use the most necessary of hacks. For me Sims stories have always been more about working with the game and seeing what comes out of it than about imposing my pre-composed vision on to the game.

Which makes Surreal Darkness interesting, because since I’m only using scenery shots I’m a lot less limited than I usually am. But the pictures do still inform the story and they do still inspire it and provide limits to it and shape the story around themselves.

Here for the sims and stories, if I get to know people it is a plus. But if people (including myself) are not good at talking that is okay too. Follow very few and their level of activity does not matter to me.

I think you are good at talking! And I do totally understand social anxiety. And introversion. Obviously. ;) 

I am very glad that I’ve gotten to know you. I think that you are an amazing human being who is very worth knowing.

As for level of activity - if the person who hadn’t updated for two years had been a close friend two years ago, I wouldn’t have unfollowed them. I know things happen. I guess I’m more concerned about level of activity prior to becoming close friends.

I am still and always will be extremely loyal, but I learned to be careful before I decide to give someone that loyalty. Once you’re in you’re in, but these days the barriers that you have to pass to get in are very high.

You passed them a long time ago, by the way. ;) If I was the sort to make a follow forever list, you’d be on it.

I like seeing what other people are doing with their games, and sometimes sharing some of my (probably boring) pictures too. And I like to make friends, and read stories. I just find the game more fun when it’s shared and there are friends and all :)

Your pictures are NOT boring! There are no boring pictures because there are no boring people. 

For real though, have you noticed how you can tell whose picture it is before you look at the username? That’s what I love about the game, personally. Because I love learning about other people and trying to see what it’s like in their brain - to the extent that I can, being locked inside my own brain and all. And in their pictures you can see a bit of what it’s like inside their brain.

I like to make friends too!  *hugs* Thank you for being my friend.
