Courfeyrac had been dreading the weekend more than anything.
His parents' decision to take the four day weekend from school as an opportunity to visit his grandparents should have delighted him, but travelling halfway across the country for four days, away from home, away from Enjolras, was something he absolutely did not want to do. And his parents didn't understand, his father had tried to curb his interest in the other boy from the moment he made it known, but he didn't care. Because there had been something between them from the beginning, from when they first met as children, although it hadn't been so strong until the past couple years it had always been there, a bond between them.
The first time he'd noticed it was last spring break, when he'd gone out of town for a few days and there had just been this ache, this hurt squeezing tight in his chest, making it difficult to breathe at times, even move. Hearing his voice over the phone helped some, but by the time they'd finally headed home he hadn't even stopped to go inside his house, running all the way to his friends' house. And Enjolras had been there, rushing into his arms as well, meeting him halfway and falling in a tangle of arms and legs, sobbing in sheer relief at having that touch again, having him.
But still their parents didn't understand, dismissing it as the foolishness of youth, despite knowing of the stories, of the unbreakable bond between two people. Not everyone found it, but Courfeyrac was sure this must be it, because there was nothing that could even come close to the simplest of touches from him, a hand in his own, a brush of lips against his skin-he knew that they were all true, everything.
So when they finally pulled up to the house that sunday, Courfeyrac curled up in the backseat with his head buried in his arms, he knew Enjolras would be there. He could feel it, a sense of intense relief washing through him, and he flung the door open before they'd even fully come to a stop so that he could rush from the car and into those welcoming arms, nearly trembling from the sheer joy of being enveloped in those arms again, to have that touch.
"Were we gone forever? I feel like we were gone forever." He mumbled into his shoulder, arms wrapped tightly around his wait, fingers scrambling to cling onto him, pulling him inside despite his father's protests, wanting to be inside, in the safety of his bedroom where they were free to do as they wished. "Ignore him, just come inside, please? Please, Enjolras, just...come in, don't you dare let go right now, I swear to god."
