Day 2: July 23, 2012
My parents went on holiday to Egypt this morning with my little sister. I'm so jealous! My dad was recently diagnosed with a pretty rare and serious form of skin cancer, and he's due for surgery when he comes home. So this holiday is probably the best thing for him at the moment. He's not really been the same recently, especially since my nana has also taken ill with pneumonia. Hopefully getting away for a couple of weeks will clear his head and cheer him and mum up a bit. Me and Sophia are going to be checking in on the house and staying for a few nights while they're away, just to feed the pets and make sure my little brother doesn't burn the place down.
My older sister was passing the flat this morning with her son, Alex, so she stopped by for a brew. We've lived here seven months and she's never visited before! Then I went with them to feed the ducks at Platt Fields. It was lovely :B
I've been listening to "Valtari" by Sigur Rós on repeat for the last few days. It's absolutely beautiful. Very different for them, mostly electronic sounding instrumental stuff. But I can't recommend it highly enough. Tumblr user J. P. Thurlow directed me to the video for the song "Varúð", which I've posted below. if you like music that makes you happy to be alive, you'll probably love this.
Speaking of John, I received a lovely message earlier which really made my day..
Thanks for being such a lovely, supportive guy! I appreciate it a lot and thanks for the helpful advice :)
I think i'm going to spend the remainder of my day looking into driving lessons. Hopefully I can afford my provisional in the next couple of pay checks. Can't wait to throw myself into it! Sophia's had a couple of bad seizures and isn't feeling very well, so i'll undoubtedly be thinking up something sickeningly boyfriendish to cheer her up, in the mean time :B.
Oh yeah. I decided I'm going to make this a daily thing. So, today I look like this:
I think I caught the sun.
