Punk!lock a la Poppy Alexander:
The fabulous “Five Times Sherlock and John Met Cute (and One That Was Decidedly Un-cute: A Study in Punk” got into my head. John is an aging punk who wants to start a punk club in modern Boston; that’s all I’ll tell you, go read it already, it’s super fun.
And then the above song came up on my playlist tonight (if all you know of Modern English is “I Melt with You”, then you my friend are missing out), and the sick beginning drumbeat made me crave a band in that ‘verse with Greg Lestrade playing drums. At his current age. And kicking ass. Can’t you just hear it?
Okay, so the rest of the band has Mycroft in it; I can’t decide if he plays bass or guitar, but he does it with zero expression, very intimidating up on stage, utter perfection--even when he’s doing an “improv” solo or working some feedback. The band just lost their singer, and I really prefer to read my johnlock sans Moriarty, but I think Moriarty is their new singer, I just do. Who is playing whichever instrument Mycroft isn’t? Irene, maybe? YEAH, that’s it, of course Mycroft plays bass. Because he is a minor official in the band. The unflinching, unrelenting, wholly reliable Beat. So Irene is the flashy (but infallible) guitar player. Shit, I think she suggested they audition Moriarty. (Irene, no, not again)
Mycroft of course runs the band. Will John’s club hire them as their grand opening act? What’s Moriarty’s angle? Will he fuck everything up, or can Mycroft head it off at the bridge?
Poppy, what do you think? Have I inspired you? If I had 2 pounds to rub together, I’d be commissioning this.
Unf, Lestrade the drummer.
