I lost a fic that I was enjoying 😭 all I remember is that one of the guys got one or more tattoos, I think it's John in remembrance of Sherlock after the Fall, but I'm not sure. I just remember the tattoo was a big part of the story, and the fic had multiple parts which is how I think I lost it because it was long. Anything sound familiar? Thanks so much for your help and dedication to our johnlock fascination 💋

Ahhhhhh the only one I can immediately think of is the Lock and Key Series:

Blurb: Straight from military service, living a life devoid of purpose, John meets a man who reawakens his passion for music. Sherlock’s band is looking for a solo guitar and, to John’s own surprise, he becomes the perfect candidate. The craft of playing the guitar for his old enjoyment, becomes his passion again as he joins the band. John sees himself as a man broken by his past and by war, a man who cannot find a place in this world but his new friend shows him a way of life he didn’t know he could lead.  

Sherlock is piecing his life together after he decided to forego drugs forever. He finally finds himself occupied by his passion for playing the guitar. After things go wrong with the soloist of the band he started, John Watson appears in his path and Sherlock is immediately taken by his talent and his personality.  

As their friendship gets stronger, their attraction to one another becomes impossible to ignore. Between the new success of the band, concerts and John’s promiscuous night life, they keep missing the moment in which they could connect as more than friends.

Both are worried that risking their friendship for a chance at relationship can damage the bond they have and destroy the band and friendship they worked so hard to build.

Description: Three Continents Watson meets Deaf Sign Language Interpreter Sherlock Holmes at a medical conference. They clash, mostly due to John being trash.

Years later, fate throws them together again.

Review: John and Sherlock start off on the wrong foot, which results in some hilarity, but it isnt until years later when the Yard needs an interpreter do they meet again. This meeting goes better than their first. This fic is very sweet and I appreciated that the signing was described in the text, mimicking John's learning of all the different signs (and I could visualize the scene better). The funny beginning coupled with the dating and getting-to-know-you atmosphere of the second part makes this fic a good read.
