Cosima and Sarah having to watch Tony and Delphine on a blood moon full moon because the wolf instincts have taken over and all they want to do it hunt

Cosima and Sarah leaned against each other as they sat against the wall, both amused and exhausted. Their two overgrown puppies had finally settled down by their feet, paws and tails still twitching.

The full moon had happened at a most inopportune time this month, when they were forced to stay in the heart of the city. This meant that Delphine and Tony were forced to stay cooped up when they would much rather run around killing small furry animals to their hearts’ content. They were very unamused when Cosima and Sarah had very firmly told them they could not.

Once they had shifted, the two wolves had given the two humans a run for their money, chewing at furniture, clawing rugs and carpets, chasing each other around the house, and causing general mischief that drove their lovers crazy.

Even now, when the two wolves appeared to be asleep, Sarah and Cosima were watching the two wearily. They were proven right when Tony’s head snapped up with a growl; a dust mote had caught his attention at the corner of his eye and he was determined to chase it. Cosima smacked him quickly on the nose with a rolled up magazine and very firmly told him ‘no’. He whined, forlorn, and settled back down. 

Next time, they were staying far away from the city. That was for sure.

Cosima's arm caught Tony hard in the chest as they came through the front door of their apartment. 

"Ow, Dreads, what the -" He massaged his wounded torso gently.

"SHHH" She shushed him furiously, pointing to the couch. 

Delphine and Sarah were entwined there, fast asleep. Delphine had managed to drape her long form over top of Sarah, while still fitting her entire body within the length of the shorter woman's body. Her cheek was resting in the crook of Sarah's neck, facing them. Sarah's arm was draped over Delphine's waist, her nose buried in the voluminous hair on top of Delphine's head. 

It was possibly the most precious sight either Cosima or Tony had ever seen. Tony nudged his other girlfriend and waggled his eyebrows when she turned to face him. 

"I think this calls for something special."

Delphine awoke slowly to the sound of low, hushed voices in the background. 

"Hold up, Cos, your brush strokes are too heavy. Hold the brush like this -" there was a slight pause, "- there, now you'll be able to get the way her hair falls."

She felt a gentle kiss pressed to the top of her head as Sarah nuzzled her hello. "Looks like we're the subjects of the moment." The warmth of Sarah's breath sent a shiver down Delphine's spine. She gave a soft "Mmh" of agreement, and pressed a kiss to Sarah's neck as she relaxed back into her warm lover; she was quite happy to lay here and listen to their lovers paint them. That was, until Sarah sat up and dislodged her. 

"Hey!" Sarah smirked as she got three different complaints - one very sleepy and disgruntled, two highly indignant. 

"What'sa matter?" She asked innocently, grabbing the bottom of her t-shirt and yanking it over her head. 

"Uh..." Her smirk widened at Tony's sudden inarticulate response. 

"We, uh, were kinda in the middle of..." Cosima trailed off as Sarah started to wriggle out of her jeans. 

"Yeah, well, I kinda thought we'd make better canvases than subjects, yeah?" Sarah was enjoying the way their eyes trailed over her and followed each movement of her hands far too much, and Delphine obviously agreed, as she took that as her queue to begin removing her clothing as well. 

Tony and Cosima looked at each other, and back at Sarah and Delphine. Identical lecherous grins spread across their faces. 

"Whadya say, Cos? Up for learning a new medium?"

"Yeah. Totally. Obvs."

They quickly became her favorite medium.

"I call Gaz!" Cosima jumped in gleefully as soon as Tony had suggested the idea. Sarah groaned. 

"Cos! C’mon, I wanna be Gaz!"

“Nope! Losers weepers!” She stuck out her tongue playfully, which Sarah took immediate advantage of, capturing it between her lips. Cosima moaned, eagerly responding to the kiss. As Sarah pulled away, she smirked at the look of bliss on Cosima’s face.

"So I can go as Gaz, yeah?"

Cosima opened her eyes and blinked dazedly at her. “Hmm? Oh, Gaz. Sure. Yeah. Totally cool.”

Sarah’s smirk widened and she pecked Cosima’s cheek. “Thanks, Cos.”

As she stepped away, Cosima shook her head and, realizing she’d been duped, smacked Sarah’s arm, making her laugh. “Dammit, Sar! Fine. Totally calling Tak then. She rules.”

Delphine and Tony watched them with amusement. Tony turned to Delphine and explained the premise if the show. “Invader Zim is a cartoon we used to watch all the time. It’s about an alien named Zim, obviously, who comes to earth to try and conquer it. I call Gir. He’s totally the best.” Tony grinned toothily at his tall girlfriend. Her eyes twinkled.

"What kind of name is Gir?!" 

Tony opened his mouth to explain, then noticed the smirk curling the corner of her lips. Totally one of the three best girlfriends ever. “I don’t know!” He replied in a perfect imitation of Gir, shrugging his shoulders playfully. 

Delphine’s grin grew. “Gir,” She winked at him. “Sing the Doom Song.”

Under the Full Moon - Chapter 2

Chapter 2: The Hunt

The next day Sarah was restless, unable to stand still for longer than a few seconds. Her skin was tingling and hot, and her bones ached. She hadn’t been able to shift on the first night of the full moon, so this night, the night when the urge was the strongest, the pull of her wolf was impossible to ignore. Her wolf had been incessant in her nagging the entire day, making sure that Sarah was going to be smart and shift tonight. It had been difficult telling her that it wasn’t time yet, they had to wait until the moon had risen. Her wolf hadn’t appreciated that.

School had been utter torture, having to sit still in class after class, and even lunch hadn’t brought relief because she was ravenous and didn’t have enough to eat. Luckily, it was one of the few days that their group didn’t hang out after school, and Sarah was able to go home and pace among her family, who understood why she was acting like such a spaz.

“Sarah, would you calm the fuck down, please, I cannot concentrate when you’re wearing a hole in the carpet!” Her foster brother, Felix, had become fed up with her antics.

She huffed. “I’m sorry, Fee, but Kira’s totally restless. I couldn’t shift last night, y’know? I just can’t sit still.”

“Chicken? Why don’t you come into the kitchen for some tea?” Siobhan Saddler had taken Sarah in about 10 years ago, when her parents had disappeared. Sarah couldn’t remember much about that night, but she remembered being scared, and she remembered her parents telling her that no matter what, she could trust Mrs. S. So she did. She’d given S some trouble over the last few years, but what teenage girl didn’t? But she loved Siobhan like an aunt, like a second mother, and she’d always be thankful to the Irish woman for taking her in and caring for her like a daughter.

Sarah ambled into the kitchen and gratefully accepted a steaming mug of green tea; not her usual choice, but it was certainly calming and at this point she would take a tranq if it helped. Kira, slightly mollified with the smell of mint and chamomile, settled down with a disgruntled sigh, which Sarah echoed softly. “Thanks, S.” Mrs. S. gave her a small smile and sat back down to her paper with her own mug of tea.

They sat in silence, slowly sipping their tea and watching the sun dip lower and lower on the horizon, until finally the last of the sunlight had faded, and with it the calm Sarah had gathered. Kira was restless and Sarah vibrated with the need to escape the confines of her human skin.

She stood and leaned over to kiss her foster mother on the cheek. “See ya later, yeah?”

“Dawn, Sarah. Remind Kira you need sleep.” Sarah waved a hand in acknowledgement as she slipped out the back door.

Their house was conveniently located, with their back yard opening into the small forest that was part of their town. Sarah stripped off her clothes and folded them neatly, setting them on the knot of an old tree root. She breathed deeply, rolling her neck as she felt the moon rising slowly above the horizon, and gave herself over to her wolf.

The transformation had stopped being painful a long time ago, but the shifting of your entire skeleton and internal organs wasn’t the most pleasant of sensations. Still, she enjoyed shifting slowly on nights like tonight, when the pull was strong and she was looking forward to a good hunt.

It always started with her eyes; the golden hue shone brightly in the darkness, and was one of her most distinctive traits as an alpha. Next were the fangs and claws, lengthening and sharpening as her body started to change form; skull lengthening and flattening, ears shifting to the top of her head, spine curving and limbs shortening as thick, luxurious black fur sprouted over her entire body. Finally, when she was fully in wolf form, she shook out her coat with pleasure and let out a satisfied huff before trotting deeper into the forest.

It was a perfect night; cool enough to make her glad for her thick coat, but not enough to be cold, with the crisp smell of winter clinging to the trees. The only bad thing about this forest being located close to a city was the fact that prey was somewhat scarce, but Sarah certainly didn’t mind the hunt as long as it ended in a good chase. Kira was content to stretch her senses as they shared a mindspace, and wasn’t pushing her to run as she usually did.

It took about 30 minutes for Sarah to sense some game; a jackrabbit was hiding behind a few low bushes and she could hear the rapid thumb of its heartbeat and smell the coppery tang of its blood. Her ears perked forward and she crouched low to the ground, careful not to step on any twigs so as to alert her prey until she was ready.

As she rounded the bush and prepared to chase, she was so focused that she didn’t sense the danger behind her. The sting of a dart pierced her rump, and as she whirled around with a snarl to face her attacker, she realized that her senses had gone numb. A second later, all Sarah could see was darkness, and she knew no more.

The hunter sat behind the protection of the trees, a satisfied smile adorning their lips. The mission was complete, and they knew that they would be richly rewarded for completing the task so many others had failed.

The hunter watched as the serum filtered through the beast’s bloodstream, her head bowed low and a soft, continuous growl slipping through her lips.

She really was a perfect specimen of her kind, thought the hunter, if you could ignore the fact that she was...well, what she was. Her black coat was thick and shiny and her frame was lean, but strong. She was larger than most others the hunter had encountered, and they supposed it was because she was categorized as ‘alpha’.

The hunter continued to watch as the serum dulled the gold of her eyes, leaving them wide and unfocused. The creature raised her head once more, a snarl now permanently etched on her lips as she swayed from side to side.

The hunter didn’t know exactly what the serum did, but they knew that it took these creatures out of themselves. They supposed it was a sort of experiment, but as the creature sprinted off in a new direction, they knew they were not allowed to follow.

Mission complete, it was time to report.

Tony always enjoyed sitting out on the deck in his backyard, especially at night. His family had come to an understanding that if he was outside the backyard was his space, and they generally left him alone if he was out here, for which he was grateful. Ever since his older sister had left for college, his home life had gotten worse and he looked for any excuse to avoid his parents’ company.

Like Sarah’s, Tony’s family also lived in a home that looked out into the forest, which he had always been thankful for. He would often hop the fence at night and go for a stroll in the woods to calm his nerves or simply to think; it was another getaway for him and he knew if his parents thought he was in the backyard, they wouldn’t come looking for him.

He’d been stargazing since sunset, curled in the hammock that was attached to the end of the deck, but he suddenly felt restless and decided to go for a stroll. It was a nice night, clear, crisp and cool, and Tony had always liked the cold.

He scrambled over the wooden fence and quickly dropped to the ground with a soft thump. Shoving his hands in his pockets, he noticed how quiet the night was as he walked deeper into the woods towards his favorite spot, a small clearing about 2000 feet beyond his house. It wasn’t until he was about halfway there that he sensed something...not quite right, and seconds later he heard the snap of a twig that made him turn to his left, and freeze.

A large, black wolf was standing about 20 feet from him, snarling with it’s hackles raised, and while Tony sensed danger, he did not feel afraid. There were warning bells in the back of his head calling him an idiot for this - there hadn’t been sightings of wolves in California in a very long time, and Tony couldn’t figure out what this one was doing here, so, naturally, he held out his hand and started inching closer.

“Hey there,” He murmured, his voice light and soft, hoping not to startle the creature. He felt drawn to it, and though logically he knew what he was doing was incredibly dangerous, he had no desire to stop or to back away. The wolf stood still, watching him approach as its ears twitched back and forth to listen to his voice and the sounds of the night.

“Hey. It’s okay. I’m not going to hurt you. And I don’t think you’re going to hurt me, are you?” He was now less than 10 feet from the wolf, hand still outstretched, and noticed with some relief that the snarl on the wolf’s face had lessened. It took a step towards him.

“Yeah, that’s it, see? It’s alright. You can come closer.” Tony had always been fascinated with wolves, and to see one this close to him was nothing short of amazing. He stopped so that his hand was within inches of the wolf’s nose and allowed it to decide whether to come closer or not. He noticed that the wolf’s eyes were wide and unfocused, and wondered if it was sick or injured, and also wondered what the hell he was doing approaching a sick wolf.

The wolf took a final step forward and sniffed his fingers for a long time, until it’s body language seemed to relax. No, he realized, her body language. He wasn’t quite sure how he knew this, but now that he was this close he was positive the wolf was female. He met her gaze briefly as she continued to sniff his fingers, but looked down quickly, unconsciously bowing to her dominance.

He continued to watch though, as she shifted even closer, running her nose along his forearm and almost nuzzling the skin there. He watched even still, frozen, as her mouth opened and clamped gently around his forearm, biting with increasing pressure until her fangs broke through his skin.

It was odd, he thought distantly, watching as his blood welled around her teeth, that it didn’t really hurt. He felt something surge through his veins as she continued to bite down, but that something wasn’t unpleasant. He didn’t know what it was, but it wasn’t unpleasant.

Just as he felt her jaw pressure begin to loosen, there was a loud snap behind them, and the wolf clenched her teeth again at the same time as she whipped around, tearing deep gouges in his forearm and startling him bad enough that he tripped and fell backwards, hitting his head hard against the root of a tree and losing consciousness. The last thing he saw was the wolf standing above him.

Sarah could feel consciousness fighting it’s way through the fog in her brain. Her tongue felt heavy and dry, and her temples were pounding with each pump of blood through her veins. She felt oddly...dull, her hearing and sense of smell less than what they normally were, which put her immediately on alert. Kira was oddly silent, sleeping curled up in a corner of her mind, and it unsettled her.

As she started to gather her wits about her, she realized that she was lying on the ground, but also that she was curled around something warm, and forced her eyes opened, squinting at the bright morning light, and let out a cry of panic as she did.  

It was Tony she was curled around, but what made her panic was the blood on his forehead and the paleness of his skin. She sat up and put a hand on his shoulder, tears forming in her eyes as she noticed his mauled forearm. Why couldn’t she remember anything?

“Tony? Tony c’mon wake up, yeah?” She shook his shoulder, trying to ignore how cold his body felt, and let out a tiny whimper when he didn’t react. She lifted a trembling hand to his neck and nearly sobbed with relief when she felt a weak heartbeat. “Tony, wake up, please wake up.” The ground beneath him was covered in dried blood, and she knew that if he was left much longer, he would die.

Scooping Tony up in her arms, she held him close to her body as she sprinted as fast as her body would allow in the direction she knew was home. Her senses were still off, but any wolf would know how to get to their den in the worst of situations, so she relied on her basest instincts to get Tony to the one person who could help him.

She let out a breath of relief when her backyard came into view; Siobhan had left the back door opened, thank god, and she barged through the kitchen, yelling desperately for her foster mother. “S! S, please I need your help!”

She could hear footsteps thundering down the stairs as she laid Tony gently on the couch, positioning his head so that it wasn’t resting on the wound at the base of his skull.

“Sarah! Where the hell have you been, I’ve been so wor...what happened?!”

Sarah looked desperately at her, tears in her eyes. “I don’t know!” She sobbed, running a gentle hand over Tony’s hair, “I can’t remember anything! I just woke up and he...Please, you have to help him!”

“Okay. It’s alright love, it’s alright. Just go sit there, out of the way now, and I’ll see what we can do.”

Sarah, strength now gone with the abject panic she’d felt, crawled to the wall across from the couch and sat against it, knees against her chest and arms wrapped around them, rocking gently back and forth as she watched her foster mother care for the boy she loved.

Sarah and Cosima surprising Tony and Delphine with a new pet

The scrabbling of tiny claws inside of the box made Cosima feel really bad, but this was the only way to surprise their lovers with their new pet. They had all talked about getting a pet for a long time, but no one could decide on what they should get.

Earlier that day though, Sarah and Cosima had gone to the market and on a whim they had visited the local pet store, where they'd found the absolute perfect pet for all of them. They'd even named her, although it had taken the whole car ride home to do so.

Sarah went ahead and opened the door for her so she wouldn't have to dislodge the box any more.

"Tony? Del? Guys we're home and we have a surprise for you!" The excitement was clear in Cosima's voice.

They found their two lovers in the living room, cuddling on the couch, and Cosima proudly presented the box to them.

"Guys, we found the perfect pet."

Tony and Delphine sat up and leaned forward eagerly as Cosima placed the box on the coffee table and opened the lid.

"Guys, meet Kira, the Bearded Dragon."
