Connie's mom did NOT get abducted. That makes no sense. They literally just did this story with Greg, they won't do it again. Also, if she was abducted, why would Steven just be hanging out in the room? He would have immediately gathered the gems and went searching for her. Obviously something happens to Connie's mom to make her late. Connie is upset, but then her mother shows up and she's relieved. Steven will then feel some angst over how his own mom (and the unanswered questions still up in the air) and decide to go into the room to talk to her. Connie and her mom are just the catalyst that will lead Steven to his OWN mother.
