Introducing Pupiless & Clover!
These guys were my HTTYD ocs when I was like 9-12 years old, hence the names being… what they are. The whispering death was (and pretty much still is) my favourite dragon from Riders/Defenders of Berk. I used to be kinda freaked out by them but I remember having a moment where little me was like “yeah they’re scary, but you love creepy/weird creatures, so maybe they’re actually cool?” and from that moment forward I was completely in love with this dragon.
Pupiless obviously got his name bc I was riffing on the name Toothless a little, since whispering deaths have those white eyes. Clover was just a name I picked at random because I liked plant names, and she was a baby so I thought it’d be cute.
I know I mentioned (or I think I did) that I was planning on doing redesigns of dragons from HTTYD, but honestly there’s not much I’d change about the design of this dragon. I did remove the red tips of the spines on the body, but I’ll be honest, that was kinda just me being lazy 😅 (10 year old me would be ashamed), but added some detail with the little spot patterns on the wings/head/body. I have a headcanon that baby whispering deaths have these spots for camouflage but their scales darken as they age which causes the spots to fade. Clover is also a color variant of the whispering death not seen in canon, since I still feel like they come in more colors than just dark green, but since she’s so young her adult coloration would definitely be different/slightly darker than this.
Oh yeah and I drew a saddle on Pupiless bc I was his “rider” in my dragon-riding fantasies and whenever I played dragons with my friends 😊
