Where have she been all my life? How could I noticed her only now?
Two things; 1. Because I was never a fan of Gossip Girl, and 2. Because it was just recently that I knew that The Pretty Reckless exists (it's a shame, I know!).
It was the start of the year when I went to Booksale at Shopwise, Araneta Center to buy the latest issue of PULP Magazine, and decided to buy the previous issue as well. PULP's December 2012 issue was actually a special issue that covers the highlights of the recently held Bazooka Rocks Festival where a freakin' bunch of international bands gathered together and put up a great show like Mayday Parade, A Skylit Drive, Forever The Sickest Kids, The Maine and Tonight Alive to name a few. I didn't attend the concert, but I bought the "Bazooka Rockers Collector's Issue" anyway. And while I was at the bus on the way home to Bulacan, browsing through my brand new magazines, I laid eyes on The Pretty Reckless for the first time in my damned life. Apparently, The Pretty Reckless was one of the bands that rocked at the Bazooka Rocks Festival -- and it seems like they're also one of the crowd's fave, as per the testimonials.
It wasn't a mistake that I decided to buy the collector's issue, because I knew Taylor Momsen through it. I started listening to their songs since, and I found myself Google searching Taylor Momsen every now and then (even when I'm at work!).
Last week, my twin Frankie and I were on our way to work but we thought it was too early to go straight ahead to our office. So Frankie decided to kill time and go to Booksale first to browse and buy some books. And since I don't have a choice, I gave in. I wasn't touching anything in the bookstore, let alone look at the stands as I don't have money to spare on any of them that time. But Frankie was really taking all her time browsing all the books she could possibly look at, so I decided to give a little look at the back-issue stand. There were lots of magazines piled in there, but I still wasn't touching anything. Until I saw this one magazine that seemed like it was really trying to get my attention. All the magazines were neatly stacked in the stand, except for this one. It was stuffed in between the other magazines and the top part of it was showing. I read what it says: "Top Ten Hottest Newbie Girls In Music", and by instinct, I thought of Taylor Momsen and grabbed the attention deficit mag. And to my biggest surprise, it was the March 2012 issue of FHM UK, and guess what, Taylor Momsen was on the cover!
Frankie caught me holding the mag and told me, "Buti nakita mo 'yan!". I told her that it was actually like a destiny, like I was really meant to buy the mag. "Eh di bilhin mo.", Frankie added. And of course, I didn't let the mag go off my hand and went straight ahead to the counter and purchased it. I got it only for Php65.00, imagine that! This one is as good as the collector's issue of PULP Magazine which cost me Php280.00. But really, it doesn't matter how much these stuff costs, as long as they make me happy. I'm planning to buy the September 2012 issue of PULP because Miss Momsen is on the cover, but I just can't find time to go to the PULP Magazine office to purchase it. But I for sure will make a way. Right now, I just content my self by listening to her voice and the rockin' sound of the rest of The Pretty Reckless. Someday I'm gonna meet this super hawt princess of rock!
