Review:
I purchased a small size of this cleanser just to try it out, since it is raved about so much online. The 3 oz. bottle comes with a twist cap instead of the one that you can press down to open – which made it a little bit inconvenient but that’s OK. A good amount of product came in the small bottle, which lasted about one month, which is actually a whole lot longer than I had anticipated it to last.
This cleanser is said to be able to remove make-up and cleanse your face. I can’t really vouch for the make-up removal part though, since I remove my make-up with a cleansing oil beforehand all the time. I never really trust cleansers to truly remove my make-up because I tend to use waterproof, sweat- and sebum-resistant sunscreens, bb creams, etc. that can be pretty difficult to remove. As you can see from the ingredients below, this cleanser is actually infused with a lot of different oils – which I can only assume helps in the make-up removal and hydrating process.
Ingredients: Water, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Coco-Glucoside, Coconut Alcohol, Peg-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Guaiac (Guaiacum Officinale) Extract, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Rosa Damascena Extract, Amyris Balsamifera Bark Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia Leaf Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Piper Nigrum (Pepper) Seed Extract, Polysorbate 20, Glycerin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Yellow 5 (Ci 19140).
The cleanser is formulated for sensitive skin and doesn’t contain the usual foaming ingredients such as sodium laureth sulfate, which can be pretty harsh on the skin (even though I personally have never felt or had a problem with it). Instead, it uses sodium lauroamphoacetate and sodium trideceth sulfate as foaming and cleansing agents. Both are supposedly supposed to be less harsh and irritating to the skin.
I use a quarter-sized amount of the cleanser and spread it all over my face. The directions do tell you to massage for 60 seconds before rinsing. The consistency of the cleanser is very milky and it actually doesn’t foam very well (if at all). It does foam a little bit but the foam is very thin and pretty much nonexistent. When I use this, it really reminds me of a cleansing milk and spreads very smoothly across the skin.
In terms of it’s cleansing power, I feel that this is actually a pretty good cleanser. My skin feels clean and refreshed after using it without feeling stripped of it’s natural oils. It doesn’t feel tight or dry afterwards, which is great. It doesn’t give my skin that squeaky clean affect that certain other cleansers have provided for me though.
This has a lemon scent to it though and it still contains parabens, so for those of you who are sensitive to fragrances or are 100% against parabens…this product isn’t as “natural” as it is advertised to be. The cleanser didn’t cause me to break out and does a pretty good job cleansing.
I don’t much like the lemon scent of the cleanser though. I also would prefer my cleansers to foam properly, so I wasn’t much a fan of the fact that it didn’t foam. I think that this cleanser would be great for those of you with dry skin though because it definitely makes my skin feel soft and hydrated after cleansing.
