Eerie foreshadowing in Theros: Godsend...
Today, on the 17th, is the release date of the first issue in 'The Untold Story of Elspeth' aka the Theros: Beyond Death saga, so I was catching up again on the Theros storyline books by Jena Helland.
I found something interesting in the first one (Theros: Godsend).
For reference, 'the stranger' is Elspeth Tirel, who was yet barely known to Heliod and Daxos.
Heliod says that he could, if Purphoros provokes him enough, order Elspeth to slay all the oracles from the other Gods and render them blind to the world.
In the Theros: Beyond Death saga, this is precisely what he intended to do when he brought Daxos back to life. This part of Theros: Godsend was a foreshadowing of Heliod's spiral in the final installment of the Theros saga.
(This is an interesting lesson in life too; that power and authority are positively correlated with paranoid fear of well-crafted schemes and of losing what one has built.)
