Wow, it’s been quite some time since my last update here! Unfortunately, that isn’t likely to change any time soon. If you take a look on my Patreon, you’ll find some changes that I’ve decided to implement recently– namely, the fact that from now on, I’ll only be doing Compendiums. Collecting large chunks of content, and putting them out all at once, seems to be the way to go with my schedule. I’ll still do sneak peeks, like this one, from time to time. But if you’d like to see more content, you can always sign up for my patreon as a playtester, where I do special alpha and beta releases of Compendiums to get feedback!

Swan Song (2nd Level, Conjuration)

Casting Time: 1 reaction, taken when you see a creature within 60 feet of you casting a spell

Range: 60 feet

Components: S, M (the feather of a swan, goose, duck, or other bird capable of swimming)

Duration: Instantaneous

Classes: Sorcerer, Wizard

You attempt to wrest control of a spell from the creature casting uit, turning the magical energy away from its intended use and towards the summoning of new life instead. If the creature is casting a spell of 3rd level or lower, its spell fails, and instead of the intended effect, the spell summons a beast of the spellcaster’s choice of a CR equal to or less than the level of the interrupted spell. The summoned creature is under the spellcaster’s control, acts at the end of its turn, and obeys any mental commands the spellcaster issues to it (no action required).

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the interrupted spell instead fails and instead summons a beast under the spellcaster’s control if its level is less than or equal to 1 + the level of the spell slot you used.
