I’m going to take the chance and mention here something I can’t get out of my head, I did notice all of these gestures Esti has towards Ronit but something that is been bothering is ***SPOILERS*** why doesn’t Esti says ‘I love you’ back to Ronit at the end when they are both in the car, I know she is the one running chasing the car to stop but she is already there hearing Ronit saying it and she doesn’t says it back…why for the love of God, whyyyy?!

yeah i know, it’s a big moment, Esti was waiting for this moment literally years (especially book!Esti) , you’d think that, considering the time they’ll spend alone, Esti would be desperate enough to scream it.

“i love you, i’m here, will you wait for me this time?”

i get it, that would be an amazing cathartic moment but cinema -most of the time- is a visual medium that prefers to show something rather than tell

what was vital in this story, was Ronit’s dedication and bond to Esti (this is also a major difference with book!Ronit who wasn’t in love with her)...Esti’s development, her strength and quiet power opened Ronit’s eyes. That was important to be verbal.

Esti’s love and passion for Ronit was there from the beginning. It was painfully obvious..there wasn’t any moment of doubt, her attraction was always there. (she also verbalized that to Dovid as well “look at me i’ve always been this way!”)

Another interesting factor and symbolism is the way Ronit and Esti are handling situations. Ronit’s way of copying was always to act on it, talk, scream it.

So she speaks. she says the word

Esti’s way was always silence.So of course she would express something so sacred for her with her eyes and smile and attentiveness .

Sadly these are things that you get only when you read Alderman’s book, because she explains Ronit’s and Esti’s mindset thoroughly . It’s worth reading, even if i didn’t like how she handled some things ;)

How far along: 27 weeks.

Weight gain: 18 lbs / 8 kg

Sleep:Not good. Baby is moving a lot during night and is getting hard to find a comfortable position.

Baby purchases this week: Bath tub for baby.

Best moment regarding baby this week: Starting my last trimester and baby is now responding to dada’s touch.

Gender: Boy

Movement: Lots and getting stronger.

Food cravings: Just on Sunday I wanted Chinese. But other than that, pretty normal.

Food aversions: Nothing, really.

How’s Mama? Tired, excited, and anxious.

Miss anything? Beer

What I am looking forward to: My mom’s arrival in October.

Our baby in veggie/fruit terms: Papaya.
