👑 Queen Mother Cerura 🦋 Beloved matriarch of the royal Vinula family. Cerura's word is respected over all others, even after giving the throne to her daughter. She now takes on the role of a doting grandmother to her grandson, Prince Cater.
This lady was made for a Discord server's art challenge - create a character based off of a type of moth! Cerura and Cater are based off of the Puss Moth. This is just an excuse for me to make a pun off of the term grandmother.
Mothtober #4 - The Puss Moth
Today's luxurious-looking specie is Cerura Vinula, the Puss moth. It got its vernacular name because it’s so fluffy, and people thought it looked kinda like a cat. Honestly if moths were humans this one would be so wealthy: look at those marbled wings, the golden lines and the ermine-like fur. And their caterpillars are also special. When threatened they take a intimidating pose, inflate their head so it looks like big dark eyes circled with red, and lift their hind legs, looking like a fork. Their french vernacular name is Grande Queue fourchue, big forked tail because of that.
They live all around Europe, in temperate Asia and in North Africa, and you can see them between April and August. But I’ve never seen one so far. They prefer dense forests, usually close to willows and aspens.
About the drawing
I wasn't in the best of moods to draw this one and I feel like i didn't do it justice. I mean, look at those little furry moths, they're so precious. I'd probably change the background color and do a better decor, but that'll do for today.
By the way, I post process videos and other things on my tiktok account, look for @echolonely as usual :)
