I was wondering how much my typical style differed from the actual art style of Gankutsuou, so I redrew two shots of Albert from memory in my style, then pulled up the reference to draw him as close as possible to the screenshot. It was a fun exercise!

I’ve been making stickers and sometimes the holographic laminate doesn’t lay correctly. I try to salvage at least part of the sticker by cutting out a headshot if I can.

I didn’t really think this through.

(yes it has a typo in the title , there's another in later part of book that wasn't scaned since it's just character art but it's spelled as "Allbert" probably because he took a massive L in the ending of this book)

Official story about post epilogue Albert working as diplomat on Janina, also an official Edmond lives AU, written from Albert's point of view so we can see all the times he thinks about Franz and Edmond.

Even if you read the previous version or summary I made based on it please read this version too. There were many mistakes in it, it was very unclear and by accident I skipped a good chunk of story near the end.

Ok I’m reading the journal now and “Translator's note: I’m puking and crying” is making ME wanna puke and cry with laughter.

I’ll edit this reblog with more thoughts as I read it.

The letter from Max to Albert about how people are asking about Edmond made my heart ache aaa…

“I came across a poster of Peppo. Now she (one should say) is the face of some kind of brand. Amazing!” GO PEPPO GO!!! I loved that she got into modeling in the last episode of the show and I love that Albert is so happy for her too!! Peppo is the best character.

“Aerial ballet, insect opera, jelly creatures choir.......” If the insect opera isn’t a bunch of mantises and grasshoppers singing then I’m gonna be so sad.

“ Translator's note: he’s using “boku” all of the time including “me” here but in “I’m kind" he's using “ore”. One woman thanked him and he’s big boy now” I wanna spritz Albert with some water.

Also kinda sad that the book and Albert are kinda transphobic like cmonnn the show was so respectful about Peppo! Boo.

“I think to myself but when I’m close and receive the gaze of the woman who is said to be the most beautiful woman of this era, I just can’t help it…” Ok he’s learning and changing and growing. I’d assume future space Paris nobility still isn’t very chill with queer folks and Albert is a repressed bi guy, so he hasn’t had a chance to explore all this. He’s trying his best.

Ok I’m at the part where Mercedes arrives on Janina and I kinda don’t care because I really don’t like her. I want to write a video essay on the show and how complacent Mercedes is with things (there’s no way she didn’t know what Fernand did and how the two of them profited from his atrocities) but I have so many other projects.

At this point in the story, the writing is very matter of fact. I think I’d be more invested in the story if it were animated. I’m still curious as to what’s going on, but the journal style leads to everything being really bare-bones.

I'm editing a Gankutsuou AMV right now and I keep getting reminded that Albert and the Count are almost the same height.

like. look at this.

His hat makes him seem way taller but he's NOT

The Count FEELS like he's the tallest guy but he gets beat out by Bertuccio, Fernand, Maximilien, the fuckin reporter guy whose name I keep forgetting, and MAYBE Villefort. And also Mercedes' hairstyle lol.

He should be so much taller. He's the honorary Tallest Boy but he's not even #5.

I think my brain just fills in the height gap of Albert and the Count with that of Lisa and Dracula from Castlevania.
