Blue Prince and Puzzle Books
One thing I'm finding about Blue Prince is that the combination of things it's doing, while mechanically distinct from them, gives the feeling of those puzzle books from the 80s and 90s where each page (or double page spread) had a different puzzle on it and those puzzles combined into one or more puzzles that spread across the entire book, especially the ones that also had narratives to them (albeit that narrative is entirely lore here)
The ones I struggled to graduate to from children's puzzle books like the Puzzle ____ series (e.g. Puzzle Planet and Puzzle Mountain) because there were very few puzzle books that weren't just "Here's a bunch of puzzles in this genre" pitched between the two "This is intended for adult puzzle enthusiasts" and "This is aimed at actual children" when I was about 8-12 and growing out of the Puzzle ____ series and I'm not sure if Blue Prince is just easier in how it's presented than they were or if it's just that I'm better at puzzles 30 years later.
