Shofie by Scott Kurtz
After months of reading the terrible post-time-skip P.V.P. I finally gave up on the comic. Then today I went to the site to read an old Christmas storyline and saw that the new strips are set before the time-skip. It just snapped back with no explanation.
I like to think that the reason the first and last panels of this comic look so much alike is because the point is that they're locked in an argumentation loop, but honestly that's just me exercising quite a lot of goodwill.
O-kay! So, it's been, what? One month and a half or so since PvP started a new era and right now we have the introduction of the second new character in this new enterprise.
It brings me that insular feeling of a series that decides to make a time-skipped sequel (or prequel) and it seems like almost every character of importance is either related to or literally the same character as someone in the original series, you know?
Collect your winnings if you had your chips on "it was all a dream".
I usually question all categorical judgment such as saying that any ending where the story was all a dream is a hack job, but... I can see it. I can see why people would say it's a cheap cop-out and a waste of plot. It doesn't feel as much on a book or on a movie, but when you follow the plot for so long, it becomes really apparent.
So yea. There goes our December in PvP. All a dream.
Honestly, I'm more worried that every other holiday stone has a cute evocative shape that clearly communicates what they are while Thanksgiving is, like, a green bean.
Actually, I'm not so sure what that purple shape is either. The location of it suggests Independence Day, but... it's vague. Maybe it's the setup for a joke, I dunno.
At least we can be relieved this won't become a 3-parter years-spanning arc featuring the comic's mascot and a ton of original characters that no one's seen before and ends in a lame handwave of a timeline loop.
hahaha
