Paved With Malicious Intent Snippet (1)
Figured I'd post a taste of the first chapter; it should end up being 6k+ words easily, especially since this is a first draft.
Beta'd by my darling bestie @iced-blood
as usual, SB/CL AND PRO/SHIPS PLEASE DO NOT INTERACT, this is a DADBASTIAN only zone! Block and move on!

Ciel looks at him, his mouth a thin flat line. With a nasty, pompous tone, he says: "Why did you kneel down? I don't want to see your ugly face."
Oh. What a cheeky little brat this boy is.
"Ciel!" Agni admonishes. "That is unacceptable to say. I am so sorry, Sebastian. His grasp on manners is poor."
Funny for you to say that, Agni, given Soma acts far worse, Sebastian muses, though he keeps his thoughts inside for now. Maybe he'll tell Ciel about Soma's behavior later, to see how he reacts. Depending on how long this boy will be under his care, Soma would end up showing up sooner or later. Though, for my sanity, I hope later.
Sebastian watches the boy roll his eye and scoff. Ciel shuffles a bit backwards, trying to hide behind Agni, but there isn't much room to do so, especially with the man's grip on his shoulder. The sense of fear is still strong, yes, but much stronger is the sense of defiance. Such a delicious mix of emotions.
Sebastian turns his gaze back to Ciel, who is still watching him from under his hoodie, his blue eye bright and full of judgement. Sebastian grins. "Could you please do this ugly man a favor and step inside? It's far more rude to waste my air conditioning than to point out the obvious when it comes to my appearance."
Ciel blinks, surprised. "You agree that you're ugly? Most ugly people don't accept that. They get mad when I remind them of their ugliness."
Sebastian laughs behind his hand, gentle. Oh, this boy is a treat! "Oh, absolutely!" Sebastian agrees. "You see, I skipped my morning routine, so now my old and decrepit self is terrorizing the locals. If you come inside, I can show you my study computer and you can help pick out a coffin fitting an ugly creature such as myself."
Ciel is close to smiling; it's a small, slight thing, the corner of his mouth barely twitching, but Sebastian can sense the child relax ever so slightly. "Would anyone even want to come to your funeral? I don't think you have friends; if you do, they must be even uglier than you."
"Ciel, that is quite enough," Agni's voice raises. "You do not get to treat Seb—"
The demon raises a hand, silencing the other man.
"Agni would come, and I wouldn't call him ugly. He's the only man I know who could do me this one, important, favor," Sebastian leans slightly forward, so Ciel can hear him whisper. "He needs to drive a stake deep into my heart, lest I crawl out of my coffin six feet under to return to terrorize the living."
Ciel snorts, his lips curving into an actual smile before he returns to his expression of mild disgust. "What, do you think you're a vampire?"
Sebastian stands back up slowly, letting his spine pop! dramatically. His amber eyes meet Agni's narrowed white ones. "Oh, I don't think I'm a vampire. I am a vampire, and I am inviting you into my home. We could either do this the simple way, with you crossing the threshold calmly, or the hard way, in which Angi and I will have to lift you up and swing you inside as though you're a four-year-old. Which sounds most agreeable?"
Ciel moves from hiding behind Agni to stand in front of him, stepping into the apartment with a sneer. Agni watches him enter with his mouth agape. "How... I can't believe that worked, Sebastian! From what I have learned, after the fifth transfer, he would never go inside willingly. Oh, I am so glad you weren't fostering anyone else at the time. You are the perfect choice!"
"Of course I am, Agni. I am simply... one hell of a foster father."
