Via Flickr: Last Sunday we visited the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show and, of course, bought some plants. When we got home I discovered a hitchhiker in the form of this rarity! It has a very limited distribution along the South coastal counties, the larvae feeding on particular mosses associated with shingle beaches, coastal downland etc. So not sure if this occurred naturally at the site or was brought in with mosses used in some of the show gardens or nursery displays of a more coastal provenance. Whatever, it's a lovely moth and a great addition to my moth photo portfolio! Hampton Court Flower Show, Hampton Court Palace, Surrey, UK. 2016-07-10.
