I work a desk job full-time and I'm fundamentally against Generative AI (for multiple reasons) but oh my god it has become so commonly used in just a few years? Recently it's become even worse.

In two days I've had one colleague use it to translate "en préparation" from French to English, and another use it to ask "what is the biggest region of France".

Two things that actually take less time to get an answer with a search engine query than this??

I've also had 3 instances of coworkers putting my face (and sometimes theirs too) in "fun" Gen AI pictures for work events. Never asked for my consent.

This is the bad place.

I see a lot of artists share their process, and it's cool and all but..... Good god I don't even know what a time lapse of my art would look like.

I think most of it would be me toggling on and off layers to try to find the one I need.

I'm currently trying to survive the heatwave in France and the current forecast is that there'll be a pause next week and then it'll be back to "extreme temperatures"

We're at 41C(105.8F) where I am in Paris right now and every single store around Paris and online is out of stock on fans and AC units

Most schools are closed, exams are postponed, and hospitals are struggling because they don't have AC

This is the coldest summer of the rest of our lives
