NAME: Sound Shapes x Beck
AUTHOR: Queasy Games, an indie game studio based in Toronto created by Jonathan Mak. The visualization of the three Beck’s songs have been created by the animation studio, Pyramid Attack, also from Toronto.
LOCATION: The game will finally be released on August 7th on the Playstation Network for $14.99. It’s a cross-play title so if you get it for the PS Vita, you’ll be able to get it for the PS3 for free and vice versa.
DESCRIPTION: The musical platform game Sound Shapes was presented at the E3 last year and many of you have anxiously awaited its release since then. It’s finally coming and we’ve just learned that three songs of Beck’s latest album (Cities, Touch The People, and Spiral Staircase) have been turned into three different levels of the game. Like you needed more reasons to be excited…
AMUSEMENT RATE: “Sound Shapes” looked good on its own but over the past year many musicians (Deadmau5, Jim Guthrie, I AM ROBOT AND PROUD) joined the Queasy Games project to make it even more interesting. The interactive music videos of Beck’s songs are a great addition and the artwork made by Pyramid Attack perfectly translates the atmosphere of each song. What’s even better is to know that each player will be able to create their own level thanks to built-in level creation tools. The music industry might not be dead after all! thumbs up to Queasy Games, it’s also always nice to see indie developers getting the attention they deserve on platforms such as the PS Vita and PS3.
Very cool. Check it out.
