“Wow, did you miss me that much while I was gone? You look like a sad puppy sitting on my work table; it’s almost adorable”
“Oh yeah, doing that is definitely going to help the situation. Good job, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that” Quinn muttered sarcastically to the other as he rolled his eyes at the currently locked art studio’s door “Give it a rest. Someone’s bound to come around at some point. Even if it is 12 fucking am in the morning”

All his life Quinn had avoided the tabloids and media with all his heart, going out of his way to go under the radar and only be known through the many articles written upon his parents but today he’d finally slipped up. Three days of having skipped classes, drugged up with alcohol running through his veins in large quantities, he was surprised he’d made it if anything but that wasn’t what had caught the media’s attention. What had caught the media’s attention was when he’d gotten into a street fight and beaten the other bloody, being pulled away by the police and hospitalized for the various cuts on his body, his broken nose and three fractured ribs from previous fights and they blew it up everywhere. There wasn’t a tabloid that didn’t have the name Quinn Killian up in big bold on the front page and, as he made his way into class finally that day, a bandage on his nose and his wrists wrapped up in bandages, face covered in bruises of varying color that the realization of it all hit him, all eyes on him as he scowled and turned around and began walking out of the class despite the professor’s protest when he ran into someone,
“Move” He said brusquely, not even bothering to properly see who it was
“I always end up in these things and question myself the same thing each time and that is why” Quinn muttered, stifling a sigh as he looked at the way the administration block had been transformed thanks to the efforts of the events committee.
Truthfully where he’d come with Olivia, he wanted to give her some space to make it seem as if they’d just come together- not as if they were each others’ date or anything like that. After all, they had their whole ‘friendship’ to maintain and, honestly, Quinn was regretting his impulsiveness in deciding to show up to the party just because of Olivia since she was somewhere else and he’d disappeared into another area of the bustling party amidst the constant chatter of people.
“Memory lane- what a joke” He muttered
“Right. And I’d be helping you hide out here why exactly? Last I checked I had no moral obligations to help you” Quinn said, raising his cup of coffee to his lips as he looked at the other with an amused expression on his face
“I really can’t believe I showed up to this place” Quinn muttered with a sigh, drink at hand in one of his bespoke, tailor made Gieves & Hawkes suits that his father had forced him to get for the event. What was it that his father had told him? ‘Go mingle with the people of importance. Names mean everything’ and Quinn had almost laughed at his face but he’d stopped himself just a little before.
Which was how he’d ended up at another one of King’s parties and, despite his clean attire and air of refinement in the suit, Quinn would still have preferred being back in a shitty old shirt and jeans working on his sculptures instead of at a cocktail party with pretentious assholes at nearly every corner.
“Ah, what you heard back there that was... uh...” Quinn had no excuse for the barking back in the studio as the other tried to look past him and he blocked their view “I was Skyping my friend and she has a dog, yeah that’s all”
“I can’t believe they’re having another ball. I hope we aren’t auctioning ourselves off like little dolls again” Quinn said with a roll of his eyes as he took a sip of his warm coffee by his seat on the bench, the steam from it coming off as the coffee’s warmth jarred against the snowy Winter day
