@felthubris -------------- With her eyes closed, it all seemed so vivid, her DEATH. But the moment they opened, the waking world seemed to dull the colours. Seemed to make fuzzy the most clear of memory. The feeling of the arrow notched in her bosom, the bleating gasp of her losing breath, the pounding of her heart painting crimson the grass beneath her naked body. It all grew distant again with the morning light. Only his face remained clear as it had ever been as she turned over to look at him.

She examined his face in sleep, wondering if he was just humoring her. If he was really awake beneath the even breath, peaceful countenance. It seemed like a play he was putting on. So, when she reached to stroke his cheek with her fingertips and kissed his temple sweetly, when she whispered to him in the dim light of morning, she did not feel bad.

"Wake up, darling." she crooned into that kiss.

12. A happy memory

He twiddled the sleeves nervously on the ceremony robe. Placed in the crowd amongst the other new students he felt small and cramped as they were penned in like sheep so to speak. Shock curled around his ear masquerading as an ornate piece of jewellery wriggling every now and then as comfort to her owner. A few people had already given him a cautious side eye. 

But one by one people stepped forth in front of the mirror who looked deep into them somehow and deemed them a house for the next four years. 

Rove briefly wondered if the mirror was just calling random houses or if there was a method to him. But as he got closer and closer to his turn he felt his stomach churn in worry…what if he got put in the wrong house? What if he got put in savanaclaw and was expected to run laps daily… he already felt weak thinking about it. 

He heard a shout for Heartslabyul and chewed his lip. Ok that would be bad if he got that…he had read on the forms, there were lots of rules you had to remember… nope

Then there was octavinelle and he shuddered. The brochure showed an underwater dorm which made him quesy…what if the glass shattered he can't swim…

As he edged closer and closer to the mirror he felt more and more nervous as he stumbled forward feeling eyes on him. Breathing became heavy, releasing thousands of people might witness him getting put in the wrong house. “Ignihyde!” His head lifted up as he heard the house where he wanted to be. Joy swelling in his chest as he realised this would be the best years of his life. He was ushered to an area where the other ignihyde students were gathered. His eyes caught a glint of glowing blue flames, eyes widening in amazement and wonder like a moth to a candle flame. He was staring in wide eyed wonder the entire time he was led to his dorm. Marvelling at being here in the flesh. “Welcome to Ignihyde, your new home.” Home…he felt warmth grow in him. Yes this was home.As he met some of his dorm mates and the marvellous being known as Ortho, Rove felt at peace. The start of his Journey at Night raven….the start of meeting his true family.
