🙋 + any superstitions?

Hmmmm, this is an interesting one! I never thought about this !! I don’t think Steve is a very superstitious guy, to be honest. I think he’s very level-headed when it comes to that. I think there are only two real superstitions that Steve would believe in: the first one, always spit on a bat before you use it for the first time to make it lucky. Steve is a huge baseball fan — always has been, always will be. This isn’t so much a superstition that he believes in because he truly believes in it and in the good luck, but more because it’s tradition to do so, and it’s a fun, innocent superstition from his past. The other one he believes in is bad luck comes in threes. This one, I feel, Steve believes a little more strongly in. Not because he thinks spirits will be out to get him, the world is plotting against them, but because in his line of work, coincidence doesn’t exist. If something bad happens, something worse will follow. And if something worse follows, well then, something else is going to happen too. Being in the superhero gig, they always have to fight against crisis after crisis, where things never go according to plan. And when one thing goes to shit, other things tend to go to shit as well. It’s just plain ol’ hard learned experience. Steve is an optimist, but he has seen enough battles and been in enough fights to know what’s coming.
I also think when Steve was younger, about 6 or 7 maybe, he used to believe in the ‘step on a crack, break your mother’s back’ superstition, haha. Steve was a very small, sickly kid, and his mother tried her best to take care of him, especially once his father turned abusive on both of them. He was always really worried about his mother, about what could happen to her, always very protective. I think if Steve heard that when he was still too young to know better, he would be really scared. His mother probably asked him what he was doing a few times, when he walked a bit funny trying to avoid the cracks on the street, haha.
