It's like finding out that you're beloved pet hampster has canabalised her babies in the night, he's just not sure how terrified he should be

Fujin

You would easily be Fujin's favourite mortal, he loves how nice you are to people

When he sees you in Kombat, he's a little relieved

Kindness and sensitivity are so often brutally destroyed in this world, he's glad to see that you're made of stronger stuff

However there was no sensitivity when you stabbed that guy in the nuts

Liu Kang

You're a refreshingly pleasant person to be around, and Liu Kang greatly enjoys the time you spend together

But when a fight breaks out, he's quick to step in front of you, assuming you would need his protection

Liu Kang barely sees you as you speed past him in a blur of fists and fury

At some point, Kang just steps back and lets you finish off the fight, a small ocean of bodies pilling around his ankles, with a lot of newfound respect towards you

Shang Tsung Teaching and Falling in Love with Rival!Reader

You've heard the saying "Keep your friends close but your enemies closer"? Shang Tsung takes this saying very literally

After witnessing a terrifying display of your magical might, Shang decides that you're simply too dangerous to compete with and should be dealt with immediately

Imagine his surprise when he learns that you have no idea how to control your magical abilities. Well, this simply won't do at all, he cannot absorb your soul until you reach for full potential, or else your power would be lost in the transition

So he switches gears, instead of being there to kill you, he's come to train you, just until you start unlocking your magical abilities, then he'll take your soul

Imagine how poor Shang feels when he realises that you're the model student: polite, respectful, eager to learn from him. Of all the people he's trained over the millennia, he's actually become most fond of you

The longer your training goes on, the more he comes to regret the fact that he's decided to kill you, he'll certainly miss you when you're gone

But then a terrible nagging thought emerges from the recesses of his mind, what if he didn't kill you... You were becoming more powerful by the day, the longer he put off claiming your soul only made it more difficult to obtain in the future. What if he simply kept you around until someone else inevitably finished the job? Yes, that would be fine, he assures himself

Regardless of your demise, Shang is alarmed by how attached he's become to you, how much genuine kindness you've managed to leech out of him

This will lead to bouts of strictness and anger towards you, even when you've done nothing wrong. He's angry at himself for slowly falling in love with you

Love is an emotion Shang has not truly felt for a long time. Lust, desire, and care have all come across his worn, old heart now and again, but love? He almost thought he was above feeling love

It's when you look at him with bright, shining eyes full of hope and adoration that he realises that he can't kill you. He can't even bring himself to plan your death or let someone else kill you. No, you shouldn't be allowed to die at all.

In fact, after a particularly brutal kombat session, he finds you, the last bits of life slowly leaving you as you reach up to him weakly. It would be the perfect time to do what he wanted to do so long ago

Instead of draining the last remnants of your soul, he fills you with his own life, dramatically aging himself in the process. His appearance was the least of his concerns, he just had to make sure you'd be alright

As his life force stabilises within you, you begin to recover. You reopen your shining eyes to gaze upon him once more. Your hand lifts again to stroke his now long, white beard

Shang pulls you into his lap, cradling you gently. It's taken years of training but he now understands that he doesn't want to live without you

He decides to begin training you in soul magik, so that you too may dip into the power of his soul well and face the realms together for the rest of time

Has no idea what a corset is and is very excited when you take off your clothes to show him

You explain what corsets do and how you like to tight lace. Lao immediately takes this information and researches it on the internet. He comes back full of worry with all these Victorian medical illustrations showing the damage corsets do to the body

You explain that those images are not scientifically accurate and were made as part of a wider move for men to control women's bodies and that you're very careful with tight lacing regardless. Lao is somewhat relieved but will probably remain scarred by those Victorian medical diagrams for some time

Needless to say, Carlos is excited for your date

He makes sure to dress up nice, get a fresh haircut, pick out a nice cologne, all that jazz

Carlos picks a nice Italian restaurant, just like his favourite place in Racoon City, with atmospheric, candle lighting

He makes sure to get there early and order a bottle of wine for the table and some breadsticks, also so he can drink away some of the nerves before you arrive

It was Jill who set up this blind date between you two, after escaping Racoon City with her, he was a little put out that Jill wasn't into him, but Jill knew he was just the perfect guy for you

He knew nothing about you except that he was your type and that you'd also survived the destruction of Racoon City. Carlos was a bit beside himself on whether to ask you about your escape, he didn't want to upset you with what had happened

But he was endlessly curious, Jill refused to tell him anything so as not to ruin the surprise, so Carlos is sweating bullets with anticipation

He had a lot of expectations for whoever you might've been in his mind, but when he sees you walk in you still blow him away

As you take off your jacket at the door, you reveal a sophisticated red two-piece, cut into a v neck that showed a tasteful amount of chest and a dainty necklace

Carlos couldn't believe his luck, you were gorgeous! Not that he thought Jill would send him someone ugly, of course. He could only hope you thought the same of him

You walk over to the small table he'd reserved for you and introduced yourself with a nervous smile and a little handshake.

"You must be Carlos, right?" you laugh awkwardly as you sit down. Carlos was too busy looking at you to respond

"Yeah, yeah, that's me!" he smiled, before realising he should've pulled your chair out for you, "Uh, would you like some wine?" as he held the bottle out to pour you a glass

"Yes, thank you, wine would be great" your gaze darts around as if you're nervous to look him in the eyes. You both continue to chat casually as you order your food, getting to know each other, until you broach the subject yourself, "So, Jill tells me you and her made it out of Racoon City together, that must've been insane"

Carlos chokes on his wine slightly before answering "Whoa, don't look at me, you made it out alive too, didn't you?"

"Yeah, but Jill has always had such an adrenaline-filled lifestyle, I just ran some zombies over in my Honda Jazz" you deflect, busying yourself with rolling up some spaghetti

"Hey, you got out in style. I tried to escape on a train that blew up then I barely managed to get into a STARS helicopter" he shrugged

"Well, Mr Oliveira, you seem very adaptable," you say in a flirty voice, raising your wine glass to him in cheers "what would you say to sharing dessert?" you ask

"Even the best dessert here wouldn't be as sweet as you, but I don't mind sharing" he fires a wink and a smile at you, leaning in closer. Needless to say, your blind date with Carlos goes very well indeed

Liu Kang

He can't believe this has happened to you, all along he was so concerned about the danger of kombat that he didn't consider all the other ways someone can be hurt

As your boyfriend, he was given a pamphlet on all the psychological impacts of a stroke and how these often affect relationships

He could hardly read the pamphlet through his tears. You might never be the same again, but he will help you for as long as you need.

There's a lot of preparing your food so its easier to swallow and helping you change if you struggle to hold your bladder after the stroke

Kung Lao

What he feels worst about is that he didn't see the signs, he initially laughed at your half-drooped face and slurred speech until someone else called for help

He's completely in shock for most of your treatment, barely able to register what was happening to you and how it will affect the rest of your lives

When the doctors try and teach him how to care for you after being discharged, he quickly becomes overwhelmed. He thought the whole point of a hospital was to make you better and now he learns that you might never be back to normal and it's all his fault for not realizing something was wrong

His anxiety and guilt don't make him the best carer, all he wants is for you to be better and that doesn't seem to be happening. He relies on a lot of emotional support from others as you aren't well enough to console him yourself, and tries to focus on helping you relearn complex physical tasks before anything else

Kotal Kahn

As an Osh-Tekk, Kotal is unfamiliar with mortal anatomy but knows enough to realize when something is wrong

Thankfully, because of his blood magik, he quickly notices the blood clot in your brain, which he breaks down immediately. This means that the initial damage is minimised but his servants still advise him to seek help in Earthrealmer medicine

Because you were lucky enough to be with a blood sorcerer at the time, there was minimal blood loss to the affected parts of your brain, but you are still recommended to remain in care for further checks

Ultimately, you'd be fine, but Kotal ensures you stay on bed rest for some time while researching into ways of preventing future strokes

Johnny Cage

Johnny saw the signs immediately. His father died of a stroke when he was young and he's never forgotten what to look out for. Johnny kept a stoney, emotionless face while waiting for you in the hospital lobby, paying no attention to the paparazzi who were taking photos of him from the bushes

He only breaks when he's allowed to go in and visit you, you seem so small and so weak in the bed with all those cables and machines sticking out of you

Johnny is aware of his unhealthy lifestyle, all the drinking and smoking, and he wonders if it's his fault that this happened to you. He immediately goes cold turkey on all of that, to help inspire you to a healthier lifestyle that will avoid more strokes in the future

He feels awful after a few days of being sober and dear God he's craving nicotine, but none of it compares to what you have to go through

He thinks it's so cute! It's like a murder weapon for a child

He assumes that, much like Kung Lao's hat, the hula hoop is a gimmick weapon with minimal usefulness in kombat

That is until he sees you use it, whipping it around and over your body with incredibly delicate accuracy

The practice targets around you lie in tatters, you seem to have sliced everything except yourself

Now the sharp hula hoop is slightly less cute, but still very impressive

Kung Lao

He feels personally threatened by you, that you may become more popular than he is with your hula hoop weapon

Immediately challenges you to kombat so he can prove how much better his hat is

Turns out that you're really good at fighting with the hula hoop, he had never considered how useful such a thing could be

Lao only wins after teleporting behind you and getting a quick hit in that finishes you off.

He openly gloats in his victory, but is secretly terrified of fighting you from now on
