Orbis Terrarum (closed w/ anniescrystalnecklace)
It was the twenty-sixth day of the tenth month of the year 3015, approximately one thousand years after the world-- and the galaxy itself-- changed for the better and for the worse. Intergalactic war between the Galactic Federation of Affiliated Systems and the Freedom Fighters for Peace and Equality sprung up nearly a year ago and has been raging on since. Orbis Terrarum (as Earth is now called based on the ancient Latin language which meant the same thing) has been the capital world of the Federation, a government meant to keep peace and order within the galaxy.
Deep in the heart of the Federation council palace, the circle of politicians and emissaries of different worlds sat as they discussed the crisis was plaguing the galaxy thus bringing worlds into war.
An orange, tentacle-faced being stood from his seat, raising his hand to be recognized. “Those brute terrorists are ravaging our world of our resources and people! If we do not do something soon, the government will crumble and the Khuiang Kingdom will disintegrate.” An emissary said in a gurgling tone like his voice has been muffled under the beard of tentacles which covered his mouth, his purple, diamond-shaped eyes took on a more oval shape, signifying a frown.
A human male seated near one of the high seats of the court; one of the leaders raised his hand and addressed the Khuiang ambassador’s problem. “Worry not, we have sent fresh troops to your world and will take care of the problem. Consider this, the Freedom Fighters of Peace and Equality have yet to maintain a stable loyalty from many of their men. I am certain that it will take them a more than a handful months to subdue half of a world’s population.” And with that, the Khuiang sat back with a nod of satisfaction.
Meanwhile, in the said world of the Khuiang Kingdom, the Federation soldiers withstood an onslaught from the Freedom Fighters. Though the fortifications of the hangar they defended was strong enough to take on beam torpedoes, too much would prove to be bad for the soldiers within.
“Hurry with the formation! Take the ammunition, mount the turrets and guns, we’ll take them as they come!” A bespectacled young woman in an olive green Federation uniform with a small golden pin of a crescent moon on her collar signifying her rank of Squad Leader shouted her orders as the soldiers. Her long, black hair whipped as she hurriedly turned here and there to see the progress of her soldiers, and the enemy to whom she aimed her rifle and shot down some terrorists who were already closing in.
A Federation soldier, fully armed with his beam rifle and bazooka, ran to the woman, avoiding purple beams that flew from the enemies’ guns. “Qiang, we have finished all the preparations. We will be waiting for your signal.”
Qiang nodded at him; not minding his lack of formality, not because he was a childhood friend of hers and her sister’s, but because they were in the middle of a battle where there was not time for everything. The man ran to a pile of metal crates and crouched behind them. Qiang followed in suit but made sure she had the charging enemies within her sight.
The terrorists, a horde of mixed races in hodgepodge armor and equipment, ran towards them in an unorganized fashion. This made it a lot easier for Qiang. Once the terrorists were within the hangar and started to breach the barricade of lined up metal crates and steel spikes, the Qiang shouted:
And with that, explosives blew up from within the crates as many of the terrorists struggled to get over them and the spikes. Those who managed to get over unharmed by the blast were left to be shot to smoking pieces by the Federation soldiers and so that was the fate that has befallen the few who crossed over.
The remnants of the terrorists who had yet to plunge into the hangar saw what happened to their allies and turned around in a retreat. Their plan has already started its course. They have done what they had to do, it was now up to the infiltrators to destroy the Federation from within...
