Shen Jiu!Shen Yuan and Modern Yue Qi
Look, I've been waiting for someone else to write this fic and they haven't and I don't think I'm going to, so I'm going to spill my thoughts and if someone else writes it I'll love you forever <3. Also the idea was jossed by the new extra but who even cares.
Point the First: I think Shen Jiu should wake up as Shen Yuan, when Shen Yuan wakes up as Shen Qingqiu. Maybe he's in the hospital. Maybe he's in the bathroom surrounded by vomit. Maybe he's passed out on the keyboard in front of Shen Yuan's desktop computer.
Point the Second: Shen Jiu!Yuan should be stuck in a slice of life or literary novel of some sort. I haven't read much of those which is why I ran out of steam on the fic, because I think ideally the author would plot out a whole novel that Shen Yuan was supposed to live but died too early for, and now Shen Jiu has to do instead. Vitally: Shen Jiu must do at least some parts of the plot better than Shen Yuan would. Maybe Shen Yuan gets tricked by a scammer Shen Jiu is suspicious of, or something like that. Maybe a dogblood drama??? IDK how those work.
Point the Third: Shen Jiu should learn and grow!! He's been completely removed from his previous situation, which is pretty destabilizing at first and he might wreck his/Yuan's relationship with his/Yuan's brothers or something like that. But Shen Yuan's family loves him and he has a sister he's close to, and he's from a wealthy family which gives him some intrinsic power. I think he probably has to build his own power base before he feels safe, but hot damn the modern world is soooo safe and luxurious compared to PIDW. Do I think he goes to therapy? Absolutely not. Do I think he reads academic essays on various therapeutic techniques? ...maybe.
Point the Fourth: After Shen Jiu's earned happy(/happier) ending, we swap to Yue Qingyuan who learns that Shen Yuan is not Shen Jiu and decides to go to the modern world and find his Xiao Jiu.
Breakdown / meltdown optional. Any sort of planning around leaving the sect leaderless optional.
I figure the triggering event is Shen Yuan realizing Shen Jiu took over his life and therefore is alive somewhere and feeling obligated to tell the sect leader.
I then wavered between whether it was funnier for him to pack his bags, settle his affairs and, heavily dissociating, travel to the modern world in a planned departure via Xin Mo or for him to melt the fuck down and in desperation Shen Yuan has Luo Binghe open a portal right that fucking second and Yue Qingyuan throws himself through it with no delay, leaving Shen Yuan to explain to everyone where the sect leader went and solve the many problems this causes.
Point the Fifth: this then leads to a Bingge/Yuan style modern world romcom. possibly with bdsm. possibly with attic wifing. possibly with a shen jiu who appears to be in his forties/fifties and a yue qingyuan who appears to be in his late teens to mid-twenties to people who don't recognize the 'immortal glint' in his eyes.
