I know Jiang Cheng is the last person anyone would consider when thinking about Jin Rusong, and yeah, he probably has absolutely nothing to do with him.

But since him and Jin Guangyao were already coparenting Jin Ling, he definitely knew the baby. JL was some years older when his cousin was born, so it's not too much of a stretch to think that he may have yapped about him to his jiujiu. And JC could have been legitimately happy for him.

JL may never have a sibling, but he got a cousin! Another kid he could play with, and since he knew JGY's parenting by then, he knew Rusong was going to be a good kid.

So JC thinking that maybe he lost his siblings, but JL was going to have family to rely on in the future, that he didn't have to be sect leader alone when his time came. That unlike him, JL's pseudo-brother wasn't going to leave him alone.

Except he did. And JC had to explain to JL once more that sometimes, people we think are going to be part of our lives forever, just don't.

like i know there are a lot of fics out there where other vulcans are all “oh man, jim kirk’s so freakin HOT how’d spock get in his pants” but IF ANYTHING it’s actually the reverse. spock shows up on vulcan one day with Jim on his arm and all the other vulcans are OUTRAGED. They’ve spent years mooning (logically) over spock’s flaxen bowl cut. his dark eyes. his slightly lax emotional control that gives him just a hint of the “bad boy” vibe that we all know vulcans secretly go wild for. Sarek receives like a thousand bonding proposals a year from VSA graduates who all have google alerts set to notify them when spock gets a new xeniobiology article published. and then they find out. that the object of their (totally logical) affections. had the equivalent of a las vegas wedding with the human captain of his starfleet ship while in the middle of a five year mission. vulcans may be too logical to riot but on that day, a good many vulcans had to meditate for an extra hour or two just to contain their rage

Me, suspicious: but you come from the violence. I remember. Perhaps if I dig in a little I will find the thing, the secret thing to pull out to heal all at once and to not even have the memory of violence, which is what you are.

Wound: what you'll find inside is just tired old flesh. There is nothing here but you. Even I is you. That's why you are the one hurt when you pick at my scabs. I am not telling you anything you do not know.

Me: but the knowing doesn't help.

Me: I am still unhappy with having a wound as opposed to not having a wound, even though I know that isn't the choice in front of me.

Wound: yes. You will just have to wait.

Me: for you to heal?

why are time loops always only like 1 day long?

the real horror is a months or years long time loop. no speedrunning your torture here. you have to sit with the consequences of your actions for a loooong time before the release of knowing the consequences and actions have been erased.

but oh, all the actions and consequences are gone. those relationships you built? empty. you can never build them again without the constant guilt of knowing that it's not as real the second, third, thirtieth time when you already know all their secrets and they none of yours.

but you can't hide. you can't isolate yourself because what if this is the time the loop breaks and then what? years gone by of missed chances with people who have changed you a thousand times and now circumstances have changed. you can never build back what was washed away by your own inaction. they'll never be able to meet you like they did the first time if you don't choose to meet them the first time every time

the thing w Amy is I think she wants to be a freak, like sexually, but she would not be good at it. Amy read Fifty Shades of Grey unironically (she's cringe) and decided to make Rory dom her but Rory is just so so bad at being a dom due to lacking both the inclination and the charisma and it wasn't sexy. she might hypothetically be into being dommed by the Doctor but even leaving aside the infidelity angle in her heart she knows if the Doctor tried to dom someone it would involve building some kind of Spanking Contraption with string and ping pong paddles and calling it 'spanky' and she would not be into that. it never occurs to her that she could dom Rory. such is life.
