You know, I wonder how many people who die by the "best friend is an EXCLUSIVE and SPECIAL term and people who have multiple best friends are missing the point" are really only sweating it so much cause they are kind of in an unofficial QPR or at least a platonic "partnership" of sorts that is special and they're kind of projecting that onto others enough so that they actually care about that term.
Cause like, I do think there is also the issue with people judging people who have ONE best friend above others as anything negative other than just their experience and relationship dynamics because its ALSO okay to have just one best friend
But like... I feel people get hung up on words and how they use it that they judge people who have the same words and use it to represent something different
And like yeah words mean things and words being used to depict similar but different concepts can confuse people, but thats not a reason to force people to conform to YOUR understanding of those words; its a reason to COMMUNICATE and CLARIFY what words mean to YOU with those that you are talking to / care about
Like I have a bestie best friend forever that is basically above other friends and all but that's because BEFORE bestie / best friend / bff, the dude is my writing PARTNER. And we don't call it a QPR or a platonic relationship or anything because there is a lot of connotations to formally calling something a relationship and largely I feel between our attachment issues, even if it changes nothing, establishing it as a "relationship" of any form would make something that works perfectly fine and beautiful more complicated by unintentionally putting expectations and connotations neither of us really want or need but just kind of come inherently with the word
But like, it is an explicitly platonic partnership. There is literally no reason that someone that is my writing PARTNER in a project that we both intend to spend our life working on, would be on the same playing field as a general friend.
But ya know just some thoughts
