Getting curious about romance again but I know that the universe is going to reality check me if I'm not careful so I'm trying not to think too much about it.
But it's also kind of fascinating and I want to explore why it's fascinating
At the same time I know full well that I'm not getting one and I'm okay with this, so the universe should just let me think my thoughts
Still just kind of genuinely curious though. Many thoughts. Many questions. Many answers out there but it's all so subjective that there are also no answers simultaneously.
A little put out my classmates were right about me, but also not surprised.
Still, trying not to have too many thoughts. I don't want a repeat of that one doctor's appointment. That was just too weird.
Man y'all. I finished Dragon Age Veilguard last night (unfortunate timing yes but this isn't about that) and... Wow actually three. That game had teeth let me tell you (SPOILERS UNDER RM DO NOT)
Okay so like you get to basically choose two party members to be removed from you party select for the rest of the game. The first one is getting Harding of Davern to lead a distraction party. I was like oh Harding did this in Inquisition! SHE FUCKING DIES AT THE END OF THE QUEST. Same with Davern if you chose him. It's just something that I wasn't expecting. But that's not the one I am here for.
There's also Bellara and Neve. The choice presented like as of one of them was correct. I chose Bellera to unravel wards because elven gods. She's a Veil jumper like that's her wheelhouse. I thought it was odd that I got hit with Neve disapproval. Then I got to witness Bellara suddenly getting snatched away from me. It was just so sudden. Then bye. The game considers her as dead as your distraction party leader.
Oh yeah she was who my Rook Romanced. So that was an insane amount of angst and it does turn out she's fine (strong word since she's so blighted her eyes are glowing red.) but seeing how relieved my Rook was, how even though Bellara will most likely die from the blight that she never gave up on seeing my Rook again. The unique dialogue for that interaction felt more intimate than the sex scene I would have gotten had I chosen Neve in this situation.
I do still have the save just before I made that choice. I kinda want to see all of her romance scenes. I'm really curious what a Neve romance in this same situation looks like. Just, wow. The details for act three is vast, and honestly I'm awaiting when more players that romanced one of those two get to experience it.
Just gotta ask, can we be platonic soulmates with the ROs?
Hello! Thanks for the ask.
I will admit that I hadn't thought on that part too hard, I love me some good QPR (queerplatonic relationship)
I do feel though that only Kane, Zane, and possibly Aimé would be able to be in a QPR. Evander and Nova might struggle with it because if in a relationship they would want a romantic one.
But believe me that it's super-duper tempting, since I happen to have a platonic soulmate myself haha.
I think I need to think on this a bit more, since I had only planned romantic routes for the game, I hope that's okay!
So, as we all know by now, I like to write OCs. I like to pair them with canon pairings. And while I tend to mostly write in fandoms that are dead, I still have people who come to read what I write in said dead fandoms.
Now, I’ve done love triangle plots before, and I’ve done them where the canon pairing won out and where the canon/OC pairing won out. However, with the story I plan to write (and as I’ve matured over the years) I’m not quite sure how to write the canon/OC pairing without making it seem like I’m bashing on the other canon character to make the canon/OC work.
In other words, how do you write a realistic love triangle without having to make anyone seem like a jerk to have it work out?
Had a moment of "What if someone wanted to kiss me? What then?" and then I had a moment of "Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the universe hasn't been sending me signs throughout my entire life that I'm not getting a romance?" and then I had a moment of "What if I'm just one of those people who will find their partner when they're middle aged?"
And then my life flashed before my eyes and I remembered just how many signs I've accumulated and how much of a pain in the ass wanting to be liked and loved at the same time is when it's not going to happen and how I shouldn't undo like 10 years of processing the loss of the dream of being someone's person just because I'm having like midlife crisis part 2 the electric boogaloo.
I mean I think I've technically known this since before my little sister was born but I was in deep denial about it for decades and I really shouldn't fall back into delusional yearning especially considering that weird gyno incident.
