Marrow being confirmed the rookie of Ace Ops now, do you have any headcanons about that? (and possibly some more Wishbone? ♥)

*cracks knuckles* Let’s get to work.

Marrow is four years younger than Clover, which makes him two years younger than the next youngest member, Harriet. He’s 26, Harriet is 28, Elm is 29, and Clover and Vine are both 30.

Marrow’s great at fighting Grimm, less so at fighting people. When he first joined up, he was way behind in spars, and so Clover offered to help him (Arkos style). This is part of how they bonded.

He’s been on the team for about a year and a half, at this point (since he was 24). You’d think that’s long enough to stop being the rookie, but nah.

Harriet treats him like the little brother she never had and always wanted.

Marrow thrives on statements of affirmation, on being complimented and built up. His team in Atlas wasn’t great at realizing that. He works hard only to be told he’s doing well. Thus, when he started getting the “pretty good for a faunus” nonsense, he stopped trying.

Getting the invitation to join the Ace-Ops was his dream. They’ve been a team since he was in third year and he admired them a lot. All he ever wanted was to be like them. That said, he was very confused to get it and he wondered if it was a diversity stunt.

Marrow has no guard and he desperately wanted to fit in with the Ace-Ops. He took the teasing very personally and it led to a crisis of faith, so to speak. Clover was the one who sat him down and explained how they all operated, and figured out his love languages (which aren’t just romantic, but also familial and platonic) to help show Marrow that he belonged.

The Ace-Ops base only has four bedrooms (four man teams are most common). Marrow expected to share a room, but Vine moved into Elm’s room so he could have his own. This led him to suspecting they were dating, at first. They aren’t. They’re just good friends. But they do love to tease him.

Marrow absolutely built his weapon to be as over the top as possible. The Ace-Ops worried he wouldn’t be able to use it, but he’s brilliant with it.

What they’re really impressed with, though, is his semblance, and the very specific, sparing ways he uses it. Marrow can manipulate will, but he never uses it for anything other than ending Grimm battles. It’s very cool and speaks volumes about his character.

Wishbone Headcanons:

Marrow’s crush on Clover is a bit more important now. Clover is the leader and Marrow is the rookie. Clover worries about a lot of things. That Marrow is the youngest. That Marrow relies on him. That Marrow has a case of hero worship. This leads to a lot of internal struggles for Clover while he tries to figure out if his own feelings are worth speaking up about.

Clover is huge into love languages, because he believes it’s a great way to show people you care. Because of this, he’s always talking up Marrow and complimenting him, even before they start dating. It only amps up once the dating starts.

Marrow isn’t as great a hand-to-hand fighter as some members, but he has managed to get Clover on his back, once or twice (we don’t need to talk about how much Clover enjoys that, and how much it surprises him that he does).

Marrow and Clover aren’t allowed to spar on team training days, because they will treat it as foreplay. Same with any sort of working out that could be competitive.

Clover helped Marrow modify his Ace-Ops uniform. While the others have more modifications, Marrow likes his. And he likes that Clover is willing to help him alter them, whenever he wants. He’s waiting to see just how much he wants to change.

Marrow doesn’t care a lot about rules, and it drives “by the book” Clover crazy. They make it work.
