re: the book-focusing ask, i find it really helpful is to skim the book for quotes that demonstrate bits of the summary, so if i take jane eyre for example i can go "jane begins to fall in love with Rochester" and then list quotes like 'made his face the object i best liked to see', which means that with a slow book, i have an aim that isn't just to get through it, and that then means that whilst i'm not thoroughly reading it, i get a solid understanding for the book. (reader, i love Jane Eyre)

This is great because you know she’s always yelling at Ed and calling him a snot-nosed child or whatever so I imagine her just always following up with “Not you, Alphonse. You’re alright”

the thing about 03 i find, is that in spite of its flaws, is that it's cathartic in a way that fmab isn't quite. i find fmab more structurally sound, flowing and enjoyable, but there are moments in 03 like ed and envy at the gate or hughes falling in slowmo or mustang killing pride that hit an intensity of emotion that leave me contemplative n emptier. i don't think its exploration of the morally grotesque should be discounted just because brotherhood is objectively better put together.

Yeah, I’d have to agree, 03 was very emotional. As most people who’ve known me for a long time will know, I cry every single time I was Conqueror of Shamballa, even though I could go on for hours about how bad it is. 03 may have had some cheap plot twists but boy did they tug at your heartstrings, and I think 03 was also partly responsible for my deep sympathy for Al.

hello i don't know if it helps but i joined a new school last year from a...... cliquey school. i was in mental illness Hell™ and literally went a year without any friends and suddenly friends!! and it's not The Solution but it is A Solution, and helpful, and good, and having those people around reminds u they are also messes

just getting around to replying to this and !! i very much empathize with what you’re saying. i don’t expect all my problems to be Magically Solved when i have friends, but i feel like having people in my physical non-internet life to talk to would be so wonderful and good
