I've never understood the "why" behind the quadratic formula, which bothered me because it's literally such an essential formula in all of mathematics. So on this wonderful Sunday morning, I decided to derive the quadratic formula. If anyone else wants to see a simple, ten step derivation of the quadratic formula (with explanations) here's the one I made.
