Anong feeling maging Arki student?
Architecture, hmm... Mahirap, oo. Pero masya. Solid.
Yan lagi yung sinasabi ko everytime na may nagtatanong sakin kung ano bang pakiramdam mag-aral ng architecture. Sobrang nakakapagod, nakakaiyak, nakakabaliw, pero worth it. I mean, Pag kasi samin, sobrang dalang ng reviews, discussions, quizes, and recitations. More on plates which is yung drawings ng buildings sa malaking parchment paper. They give it to us sa start ng term tapos that’s all we’re gonna do until major exam. Some say na chill daw. Oo, chill kasi less memorization and stuff. Pero di chill sa part na di mo alam kung anong concept gagamitin mo, kung paano mo uumpisahan, o kaya naman kung paano ka mag rerender.
Pero di naman puro hassle yung dala ng Architecture sa buhay ko. Meron din naman fun and other things.
Ako yung chapter Vice president for planning ng UAPSA-AUF (which was actually a hassle). Being this, gave me a lot of opportunities.
Yearly, the national chapter of UAPSA (United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary) holds a nationwide event which is Qaudripartite and is exclusive only for arki students. Sa school namin, only the first six executives officers are allowed to join. Luckily, isa ako sa mga yun. It’s a three-day event which is composed of different activities on different places around metro manila.
First day, talks and seminars, tapos induction of officers, then afterwards, back to the hotel room. I was with my co-officers that time e bigla nag crave sila ng alak. Di kami makaalis kasi our president told us na we have to go to Trinoma to visit the Mañoza exhibit. While in trinoma, we thought of an idea. “How about, bili tayo ng drinks sa jollibee tapos let’s just put whiskey inside” I thought it was a brilliant idea. Di kami nahuli habang nagshoshot, but we were like animals pagbalik sa hotel. Hahaha!
Second day, sabi nila we’ll be going to Intramuros for the team building. Pagkadating dun, we we’re separated from each other then distributed to different groups. I was so pissed kasi wala akong kakilala kahit isa. Later on ko nalang na realize, ganun pala yung goal ng event, for us to get out of our comfort zones. For us to gain new friends. Our group was called Katorse ‘cause we were number 14. We couldn’t think of another group name that time. I should’ve suggested na sana Barbie world or powerpuff boys and girls nalang sana kaso I was too shy that time to even speak haha.
What happened that day was lit! I thought we’ll just stay at one part of intramuros. Little did I know, they have stations designated all around the place. So ayun, we had no choice kundi gumala sa buong intramuros. Haha. At the end of the day, kahit sobrang pagod, me and my co-officers couldn’t stop telling each other about our own groups. We share stories of how a new family was made. I was so happy that time all I could think of is putcha ang worth it nga talaga ng pagiging arki.
Third day, the last day. Main highlight is yung Fellowship night. We have to dress fancy kasi parang more of a grand ball yung pupuntahan namin. They held the event at gazebo royale in QC. Funny thing that night, instead of per chapter yung magkakasama, yung group yung nagsama-sama. I was with KATORSE!!!! (battle-cry daw namin yun) the whole night. That was were this picture was taken. It was one of the most memorable events in my entire college life. I couldn’t believe that different people from different schools and different places could be as one family. Parang there was this bond, a friendship, that is so uniquely special I want to hang on to forever.
Truly never kong niregret yung pagiging architecture student.Kung gaano kahirap, ganun kasaya. Hindi lang disciplines when it comes to acads yung natutunan ko, but also other disciplines I’ll need in the long run.
P.S. That was me in the middle with the golden coat haha
