RAHHH. okay okay okay OKAY okay okay. im gonna really try to keep this brief.
Baaree is the princess of the Turquoise Springs kingdom, a strong and prosperous kingdom ruined by her mother King Josephine ( https://toyhou.se/22099078.josephine )
Baaree may be the princess, but since she doesn't hold a royal fate card, it is highly unlikely she will ever be a queen or king herself. This doesn't bother her much, she knows she still has a job to do. she was incredibly dedicated to her position and was raised with the upmost poise, proper etiquette and learned to mirror perfect social skills. She studied law and agriculture and meteorology and mathematics and literature and communications, she tried to be the perfect daughter for her mother to be proud of despite her lack of royal fate, and prided herself on her intelligence and elegance and status.
That all went down the drain quickly when Baaree crept into her mother's room and attempted to murder King Josephine in their sleep.
It came as a total shock to everyone, even Baaree, and the exact reasons as to why she did this are not well known. There was a steady build-up until this event, but not even Baaree truly noticed it coming.
Baaree managed to escape the castle and arrest, heading out into the desert in a frenzy, terrified and confused and disgusted with herself.
Kelleher is a coyote shifter who lives out in the desert of Calcite Valley! Using the pelt on her back, which can come off but will NOT come off, she can shift into a natural looking coyote. She is a bit like a selkie, if a selkie was a dog. If she were separated from her pelt, there would be consequences.
Much of her past is unknown, but she is very well-known now as a troublemaker and thief. She wanders around the edges of towns, often pushed away from the citizens because they don't want to lose a chicken or two. She finds this behavior hilarious. Kelleher revels in her position as a wild animal, and allows herself to be treated like one. She is very boisterous, clever, and quick on her feet, but also reserved and independent.
Sure, the isolation can worm its way into her brain, the looks of annoyance or fear when she slinks by full-shift stick to her skin, but Kelleher loves being free. Perhaps a dog could be loved by another and find warmth to rest by, but a coyote is not leashed. Kelleher knows she is unlovable and not like everyone else, but she has to be okay with that.
Kelleher finds great amusement by the new girl in the desert. Baaree is staying with a dragon and his daughters, but Kelleher sees her wandering around, clearly unaware she's in wild territory. Baaree is everything Kelleher is not- she is terrified of damaging her clothes, she's prancing around like she's scared the ground is gonna get its icky dirt all over her, she's complaining about the heat and misstepping so clumsy she's a second away from stepping on a cactus. Kelleher laughs at her, and Baaree snaps back..i gotta stop going on and on. im not gonna go into this much more but can you just pretend you read this whole thing about how theyre wonderful friends now . the weirdos
basically. Baaree thinks of herself as monster. Kelleher thinks of herself as a beast. Could a monster and a beast be best friends!? they run around the desert together. literally, run. they climb around and play outside and Kelleher finally has someone to race and Baaree gets all her anger and fear she's been keeping inside since she was small and since the attack on her mother that she still hasn't dealt with. because what the FUCK was that (I know.)
Kelleher teaches Baaree to play in the dirt and swim in the creeks, and Baaree gives Kelleher head-pats and a place to rest without keeping her caged. they have a bit of a snarky rivals dynamic they argue and fight but they're smiling and prancing around. couldn't be me, but they love it
Their song "HUNTER" is all about the two of them finding a weird comfort in all the parts they hate about themselves in the other. Learning to love themselves for their weird brains and selves….
