The Never-ending  Train

In my mind, I was looking for the name of the train station I was supposed to go to. I don’t recall why I should board this supposedly mysterious train but I kept looking for the name inside my head. It’s all a blur. All I could remember was I was running up and down these floors. I decided to go to the top floor of the station. No one was around but me and my friend, Jeremy.

I asked the conductor where should I go, and he said just board the first train that comes up. I thought to myself, “Okay, why not?” I tried paying for the fare but he was gone. Jeremy told me it’s better if we go back. “Back to where?” After a while, I found myself inside a room that looked like a makeshift office. It was lit only with a few lamps but it felt homey. There were a few people there and I thought I’ll just make a sandwich and find a spot for myself to stay. I found some raisin bread and put some mayonnaise on a piece. As I walk towards my spot, Charmaine asks for a bite of my sandwich. She was sitting on the floor with her laptop so I just offered it to her without making her stand up. Then I was surprised to see that 3/4 of the sandwich was gone. I didn’t mind. I walk towards a computer. I stare at the screen and I thought to myself, this is my life.

Then I wake up.

The way I see it, it looks like the train station is a system where I can’t get out of. It’s endless and you’ll eventually get lost. Right now, during these difficult times (it’s difficult in my end) I guess the trains represent the options on what to do but at the same time they won’t tell you where to go.

Jeremy is one of my closest friends and we somehow share the same ideals in life. He told that living in the city isn’t worth it anymore. That it’s better to stay somewhere far but close to nature and just have a peaceful life.

Charmaine is my best friend, she recently had her birthday and I just think maybe the sandwich was like a sign of our close friendship.

But it was a sad ending because I’ve been alone for the past few months since COVID19 lock-down and I can’t even go home because there are no flights for my hometown. Everyday somewhat feels repetitive and all I have for now is my laptop. Hopefully I find an escape.
