Right? Imagine if, in response to this, the right rioted in the streets, looted, set fire to buildings, homes, and vehicles, killed numerous people, and took over a part of the city, ultimately doing billions of dollars in damage?

What a horrible reaction that would be...if the right did it.

You have the opportunity to pet any animal without the possibility of that animal harming you in any way. Every animal will be happily pet and even enjoys that attention. What animal would you go for first and why?

I don't like cuddling and tend to prefer animals with a distinctive personality (as opposed to "generic cuddliness") so my first choice would probably be a weirdly behaved cat. Not necessarily a big one, but one that was so strange that I could just stare at it and be amazed, as if it were some kind of alien plant.

I grew up culturally christian and went to plenty of church events, but never saw anything like this, what kind of dystopian bullshit

There’s a special flavor of ‘Protestants from the USA who are the same folks who would buy a picture of Ronald Reagan and White Jesus high fiving’

And this sort of thing is pretty normal in those groups

One of the churches I went too as a child legit refused to acknowledge that the 31st of October even existed. I found out when one of the ladies mentioned that there was only one day left in the month and I corrected her, saying “No there’s the 31st it’s Halloween!” and the Sunday School teacher freaked out and told me that good Christians didn’t talk about or celebrate Halloween because it was the Devil’s birthday. 

These were grown ass adult women who were so enamored in their faith that they REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AN ENTIRE DAY OF THE MONTH and just acted like it didn’t exist. Like fuck to this day I wonder what they would do if they had kids?? Keep them home?? What if they had a doctors appointment and they had to say “No sorry I don’t believe in the 31st”??? Do they just stay home with the windows and doors locked and the curtains drawn and pray all day???? 

I had cousins who were part of the same church(my mother wasn’t christian and didn’t raise us as christian and my mom only sent me there with them because they would give us a free breakfast and we were poor) so while my siblings and I got to go out trick or treating my cousins stayed home with my aunt and handed out little christian comic booklets about how Halloween is evil and if you don’t love god you will burn in hell. They gave these books to CHILDREN.

Rural American Christianity is fucking balls to the walls insane and I cannot understand why anyone buys into it, let alone adults, and being raised around them while not actually being christian was a fucking trip.

They did a pretty comprehensive piece on Canada’s indigenous suicide crisis. Its a better piece I’ve seen than most of the main stream media in Canada on this issue.
