Red Velvet: Peek-A-Boo Theory

Hi guys! The Queen of Bops are back with another bop song. The MV is out and here we are with another mind boggling teasers and MV. I saw the teaser pictures and some are really creepy but I love creepy and RV so, it’s a win-win situation.

So, this theory is based from what I just watched and what I thought so any similarities with any other theories you’ve read is highly coincidental.

From what I’ve watched, it shows how RV kills their prey, the pizza delivery guy. The initial thought I had based from the first time I watched, is that they are either vampires or some supernatural creature who feeds on humans or they are just crazy.

I tried to make the crazy theory stand but the lack of evidences made me abandon it. So, I hold onto the next theory which is that they are either vampires or some supernatural creatures who feeds on humans. I can’t totally say that they are vampires since we don’t have enough evidence plus most of their teasers are showing that they are outside and some of the parts in their MV are shot outside. If they are day-walking vampires it will hold through but I will settle down with the supernatural creature.

So, the MV started with them lying down on the floor, which means they are tired and it’s that time of the month where they need to replenish supplies. I first thought why would Irene cut Seulgi’s face, it could be to test whether they are still immortal or their wounds will heal. Irene showing that if he cut Seulgi’s head, she’ll die so they need food to remain invincible. For me, it came down as to hunt or be hunted since the word ‘fox’ appeared on their lyrics.

Joy and Wendy placing gems on top of the pizza is like saying, “Yeah, we hit jackpot again this time. We have another pizza delivery guy in the corner. We have our new target.” Or it could be a way of bewitching the pizza delivery guy.

The peek-a-boo scene where they are all in the living room for me is like, “You cannot run or hide because we see you.”

Joy on top of the table with a pizza like house is like saying, “We’re going to play around with this pizza guy inside our house.” It’s like she’s showing aggressiveness by the way she acts. It could also be Joy trying to bewitch the pizza delivery guy.

On the day that they contacted the pizza delivery guy, Yeri has a frown face and everyone looks so serious. It’s like their saying, “It’s now or never.”

On nights before the full moon, they practice on how to seduce the guy and make him stay until the time comes, they are basically dragging the time, so that he’ll stay until midnight, the time they commit the killing.

What made the supernatural game strong is that during the time they were standing in front of the pizza cartons they have collected and the one where they are doing the cat pose, all their heads look into the camera’s direction faster than a human could do. More of it is when Irene called for a pizza delivery behind an enchanting painting with waves moving with the full moon which is an indication that they are about to kill, a green mist was shown like seeing from a far was shown, the moment the delivery guy knocks, Irene was already there.

We also see them practicing their killings but technically messing up with the target. They intentionally did it since they are planning to let him go and play around him some more.

When the delivery guy looked into their window, you could see that Joy saw him as they do the ritual and the next thing is that the guy was already in the middle of the candles as RV walk around him in circles, I think this is an indication of them, driving him nuts so that no one would believe him if he even tries to ask for help.

The delivery guy with RV in the living room looking so happy means they have succeeded in bewitching him, thus him looking happy while RV looking so serious in all of the scene beginning from the creepy ritual. You can see that the pizza in the first part was there, the gem one, it means that they have allured him and cornered him as you can see the position he is in.

On the second chorus, you’ll see that he started to become confused which means that RV’s powers are slowly deteriorating thus he slips from being bewitched to not which was brief because after that you seem him smiling as RV chases him happily but that was just RV sugar-coating what was really happening because as you can see at the end RV looked exhausted as they chase him out of their house.

In the dining area part, we saw them blindfolded probably “a game” they proposed which is totally an element of peek-a-boo, one closes their eyes and open them to a surprise.

When the clock strikes 12, it was hinted that it’s time to do their thing. In my perspective, the pizza delivery guy ate the jelly since he was bewitched and for me RV ordered him to do that. When Wendy removed his blindfold, it’s time for the surprise which is them running away from nothing.

This scene means that the pizza delivery guy was driven to madness. He sees every member running away with him but in the end, someone is trying to kill him. We don’t know what he sees because in our perspective we saw RV quite exhausted with the hunting that happened. Thinking that he successfully ran away from his delusion with Irene, they stopped by a phone booth to ask for help but he was too late since RV got the upper hand. His madness drove him to kill himself or either been killed by RV, why, Irene inside the car was wearing a ponytail, the Irene before the car left was all tattered and has her hair lose.

RV’s been doing this business for a long time since we saw pictures of the missing pizza delivery guy when the guy called for help and the collection of shirts from all the people they killed.

I just love how they wear their colorful outfits to lure the guy and kill him.

I also tried to relate the seven deadly sins in the theory above. The WenJoy bedazzling the pizza with gems, can be seen as greed. The dining part is gluttony. Joy on the table is lust. Yeri receiving the pizza and Irene and Seulgi watching her as envy. All of them lying on the couch as sloth. Seulgi and Yeri not flinching as other members aim at them as pride. And the creppy walking around the candle as wrath since it was a ritual and the pizza guy popped out of nowhere so he made them angry and especially the beginning which was also the end before we saw what happened to him

I also have another theory about it but not based on what I watched but based on the lyrics. I interpreted it as RV falling in love with someone new, even though he’s the same as everyone, they felt that it’s different, putting the best foot forward they realize that he’s just the same as the other guys they liked, so when he tried to enter their heart which technically means the house, they tried to shove him away and protect themselves with weapons. But the ending don’t mix well with the theory and I assume that RV got his heart but not theirs.

so this week, i could feel myself slipping away to the fun that is my ugly mind! and yesterday i was giving in, i alr deleted my other socmed apps and had like (0) hours of sleep 👌

but then i stumbled upon the Emotion Side B album and... i felt suddenly motivated to do stuff? i ended up cleaning and ordering food (which seems like nothing I KNOW but yeah)

Anyway the point of this whole post is that Carly Rae Jepsen is the queen of pop and for everyone to listen to her album E•Mo•Tion!!!
