Hey! Since signing up for the secret santa exchange I've made a JATP side blog I'd prefer to use over my main. Could you change the url on my form from queen-beastie to street-dogs? Thanks for hosting this btw!
sure not a problem!
@queen-beastie oh but his middle name is robert though!!
queen-beastie replied to your post “and for all the grabbing and kissing, jack’s smile is genuinely just...”
your tags are a mood. as much as i'm excited for the next jack episode i'm also DREADING it for that reason
i mean, the Plus side is when the three of them mentioned Jack, despite the fact that she was actively spiraling at the time she Still smiled fondly, so that’s something at least. There is fondness.
But i’m also very much aware that they avoided having them meet until After 13 found out she is functionally immortal as well. It bothered me the way they wrote jack into fotj from the get go, because they could have achieved a tip off from literally Anywhere and jack wasn’t like, necessary? It seemed shoddy?
And then the finale happened and i got why they held off on it all and yeah, now they’ll meet in the special and the doctor, who has previously Really been a right shitbag to jack over the immortality thing because it’s Unnatural and all, will meet him after finding out she’s pretty much the same.
I think it genuinely depends on 13′s mental state. If she’s still got the momentum of the finale where she’s determined to move past this all in a healthy way, then it’ll probably be fin ... if not? He’s probably a convenient target tbh.
Honestly i just want them to have fun. And jack to get a few snarky remarks in @ her for the blonde thing. That’s a necessity.
11, 20, 31?
11. Who is your Doctor?
It has to be Two for me. I think what immediately draws me to him is the way he is with his companions. He’s protective and can be paternal when the moment calls for it, but perhaps more than any other Doctor, he always treats his companions as equals and friends. Some of the other Doctors are strong in this regard also, but it’s hampered by the “burden of a Time Lord” dramatics in New Who. He also just delights in mischief so much and is the definition of joyful rebellion. He’ll topple your fascist regime with a ruse, a wink, and a smile. He plays the fool but is never foolish. He’s got all the trickster conniving of Seven without the cold manipulation.
Honorable mention for Twelve, who ranks very, very highly for me and would easily be my Doctor if Two weren’t there.
20. Best Doctor/companion pairing?
I’ve gotta say Ten/Donna. They clearly just have so much fun being in each other’s company, and each really pushes the other to be better. The Doctor has called a lot of companions their best friend, but with Donna is where I feel that most genuinely. It’s clear that David and Catherine were just delighted to work together and that chemistry translates so directly to the screen. I could have watched five seasons of just them easily.
Honorable mentions to Three/Jo and Seven/Ace, whose dynamics are more mentor/mentee but are fantastic.
31. Favourite episode ever?
Oh man, this is tough. I think of favorite in terms of enjoyment and that changes day by day, so I think I’ll cheat and answer best rather than favorite. That would make my answer “Heaven Sent.” It’s just ecstatically beautiful. It’s melancholic but deeply hopeful and inspiring, it’s creepy and mysterious, it’s jaw-dropping and epic. It has a strong metaphor. It just has no weak point or downside in my opinion. It’s 45 minutes of Peter, Steven, Murray, and Rachel all doing the best work I’ve ever seen them do. It’s nothing short of a masterpiece.
I toyed with doing honorable mentions here and it just became me listing half the show.
Thanks for the asks, @queen-beastie!

I've always wondered how repeats worked on tv before the 90s and early 2000s, especially for a show like doctor who, which aired stories in multiple parts. How frequently would you see repeats of DW episodes being aired?
I know classic who episodes were re-run but I’m too young to have any idea how that worked unfortunately
1, 2, 10?

send me salty asks
i'm trying to decide if chidi's anxiety disappeared because he was in the good place, because he found confidence in his relationship with eleanor, or maybe a little of both? in any case i can't get over calm, charming chidi! his parts with eleanor were so precious and i literally cried.
Oh! I think Will explained in some interviews that he finally got over his anxiety to let himself have the thing he wanted most in the world- Eleanor, and that shed a lot of his psychological baggage. I also think he loves Eleanor more than anything in the world, so he was calm, and he knew she needed him so he tried a bunch of things to make him happy. His relationship makes him better and I LOVE it!
