I’m not trying to be a total asshole, but like reclaiming a slur can extend beyond individual identification. If a queer person wants to say “queer community” to refer to the community that they are a part of it is not as bad as a straight person calling someone the slur? Like it’s pretty obvious how. If the word queer brings up feelings for you then maybe consider that the person using it may be using it for a reason? It probably brings up feelings for them too and that is the whole point? A lot of people are saying you can’t use queer as an umbrella term and I disagree, that’s all. I have a different opinion, that’s it. If it bugs you that much, then when I say queer community I’m not talking about you, simple as that. And no, I don’t refer to individuals as queer unless they identify thusly.
