Reason #390876 I love being queer.
We have a unique sense of family. You can meet a person and have 3 things in common with them, until you find out they fall somewhere on the queer spectrum. Then it's suddenly like you've know each other forever and suffered through grandma Tina's jello molds every Thanksgiving.Even when issues of race and gender come up and become problematic, there always seems to be a sense of "But they'l get it eventually. And until they do we'll work on it." that I find doesn't happen between queer and non-queer folks.
We also seem to take care of each other in more familial ways that I've come across in the straight community. We actually take advice from older folks, older folks do listen to younger folks. Our friends are ride or die in ways that run deeper than DNA ever could.
I love my queer family,the ones I know,the ones I don't,the ones I;ll someday meet.
