it is probably because it is one of the really big ships that no one wants to criticize for fear of retaliation so then when someone does speak up about it it is like YES

i think you’re right, i think that’s what it is.  also i think even the shippers understand the problematic aspects of buffy/spike, so no-one’s too defensive of it.

buffy and satsu had a LOT of potential, but the entire thing was lampshaded by willow and satsu and basically everyone being biphobic as hell ("buffy slept with a girl?? but shes not GAY!") and then it didnt go anywhere because satsu was too biphobic

no, really? that’s such a shame i had high hopes.  i think i probably won’t ever read the comics then, the feedback i’ve gotten hasn’t been great

buffy and spike got back together in the comics and the whole season has been "i guess spike did all those bad things BEFORE he had a soul so its ok" and buffy guilting herself like "i never actually gave him a chance..." and i wanted to throw up

this is awful i’m so disappointed!  last night i was just thinking about how i didn’t feel strongly about any of buffy’s ships and maybe i should read the comics because i think buffy/satsu seems like the kind of ship that would really appeal to me?  and i googled ‘buffy satsu’ and all the results that came up were so pleasing!  i guess i’ll never read the comics then. (also you have a hella url i am very impressed!)

before i started watching the show i saw so much spuffy stuff and i assumed that they were going to be a really great couple but then i watched the show and i dont get it at all

they do seem to saturate the fandom but since i’ve been criticising them i’ve been approached by a number of people who are anti-spuffy, so that’s been comforting.  maybe part of the reason spuffy things outnumber bangel things is that the first three seasons are hell to edit, whereas the last four are much prettier.

And then nope, Stroud’s head appears all Wizard of Oz style and he shoots lightning from his eyes, tells everyone off, and disappears.
