Ecem Dalgakıranlar re-watches “Yeşilçam” films from a queer-feminist perspective and introduces them to the Athens. (Türkçe ↓)
Yeşilçam ("Green Pine") is a metonym for the Turkish film industry, similar to Hollywood. It experienced its heyday from the 1950s to the 1970s, when it produced 250 to 350 films annually. Gave birth to its legendary stars, directors and iconic unforgotten songs as well as Turksploitation movies. Low-budget exploitation films of popular foreign films such as Şeytan (Exorcist), Dracula in Istanbul, Karate Girl, Homoti (Homosexual E.T). Which some considered as “cult” movies today. Another era within Yeşilçam is “Sex Craze Era”. A collective secret of boomers and generation X. There are also movies of queer stars as well as movies which never considered as “queer” but contains characters identified or desired by queer people such as “Şoför Nebahat” (Driver Nebahat, a masculine woman character). And finally the rebellious "Women's Films" of the 80s.
Every Tuesday night (19:00, 28/1, 4/2, 11/2) we will watch something that you can’t watch anywhere. Our first 3 movies titled as “Desire” to create some καύλα. First starting with Turkish adaptation of Cinderella to turn back to our childhood, then a masculine sex object with crazy aerobic dances and finally a heartless prostitute insulting men with iconic dialogues including Turkey’s sex symbol “Aphrodite“ Banu Alkan. It will be a series where we will move from being a Karen to being a bitch.

Ecem Dalgakıranlar Yeşilçam filmlerini queer-feminist bir gözle tekrar izliyor ve Atina Queer Camia’sıyla buluşturuyor. Her Salı gecesi 19:00’da AMOQA’da bir şey izleyeceğiz. İlk 3 filmimiz “Arzular Şelale” başlığıyla bir araya geldi (şuan böyle Türkçeleştirdim). İlk olarak Külkedisi Sindirella ile başlayacağız, ardından çılgın aerobik danslarıyla Yaşar Alptekin’in bir seks objesi olduğu “Salıncakta Üç Kişi” ve son olarak Türkiye'nin seks sembolü "Afrodit" Banu Alkan’lı, ikonik diyaloglarla bezeli “Sokaktan Gelen Kadın”ı izleyeceğiz. Kezbanlıktan kaşarlığa doğru yol aldığımız bir seri olacak.
