River was born of two beloved characters. She was stolen and bred to kill the Doctor. She poisoned him and believed she’d killed him and done her purpose and then she fucking gave up her regenerations for him. She follows him in a backward stream through time and space, doing the same work in his name and hoping and praying for those times she gets to run into him.
She’s cocky because she’s capable. She’s sassy because if she wasn’t she’d be cold. She believes in herself, she believes in her parents, and she believes in the Doctor. She married him because he asked her to for the good of the world. She carries the weight of his name on her back like a curse. She has to slowly watch the man she loves and admires forget her. She is one of the strongest female characters to ever be created both in mind and in body.
I understand maybe hating River’s story or hating the way she was executed as a character, but hating River Song I will never understand.
Send me the name of a character who commonly receives hate, and I’ll do my best to give them some redemption despite my feelings for the them.
