So I was delving into latin diminutives as one does and I came across the word for bat, 'vespertilio'. I thought to myself, "That looks like a diminutive." Now I don't have the confidence in my grammar to say for certain but if it is a diminutive of "vesper" then that means the word for bat means 'little evening' Twist that a little and you get "smol night" Bats really are the night. Just the tiny night though
